Supporting Voices

Marketing and Mail Services Offer Much More

Child's Voice is proud to recognize our partner, Rescigno's Marketing Connection.  This 20 year veteran in the marketing and mail service industry has made it their business to provide expertise and support to non-profit organizations, like Child's Voice.  Rescigno's is a family owned business that began in a garage and now lives in a 7,000 square-foot warehouse in Bridgeview and serves over 300 charities from across the metropolitan Chicago area.

Rescigno's has supported Child's Voice in the development and mailing of recent requests for support as well as donated services.  "Organizations like Child's Voice where we're able to be partners and offer suggestions, those are our success stories," shared Sue and Ron Rescigno, founders and owners.  "The work Child's Voice does is so very much needed.  Helping kids faced with the challenge of hearing loss find their way in the world...you're giving them the opportunity to spread their wings and find their voice.  It's a great thing."

We think so too Sue and Ron!  Thank you so much for your support of Child's Voice!  We look forward to continuing to work with you.  Special thanks for your help with our upcoming mailing.

Be sure to watch for the upcoming Spring Request for Support in your mailboxes!

Did You Know...

Until recently, St. Patrick's Day in Ireland was a holy day of obligation, celebrated quietly. The day usually started with attendance at Mass, after which the men often went to a local pub to drink Pota Pádraig or "Patrick's Pot" (usually a drink of whiskey) to toast the good saint. They enjoyed a dinner of boiled bacon (not corned beef), cabbage and floury potatoes.

Shamrocks & Whiskey
Patrick used the shamrock to illustrate the Holy Trinity - three persons in one God, three leaves on one shamrock. Therefore, sprigs of shamrocks are worn as a remembrance of his teaching. Badges made of ribbon and paper were worn on one's coat. At the end of the day, one would "drown the shamrock" that is put a few shamrocks into a glass and cover them with whiskey to end the day. Caveat!

The St. Patrick's Day Parade in Dublin is a recent phenomenon. In New York City, the parade began in revolutionary times when a group of Irish soldiers serving in Washington's army marched up lower Broadway to remember their beloved patron saint. The custom, spread and there are now hundreds of parades honoring St. Patrick all over the US, Canada, Australia and even Mexico, Russia and Japan!

EVERYONE'S IRISH FOR AT LEAST A DAY

May those that love us, love us.

And those that don't love us,

May God turn their hearts.

And if he doesn't turn their hearts,

May he turn their annkles,

So we'll know them by their limping.

Child's Voice Board Members

Ursula Moncau

Ursula Moncau has wasted no time in learning about Child's Voice and getting involved on committees in her short time on the Board of Directors.  Ursula's colleague, Joe Bohne had served on the board for a number of years and recently retired. At that time, Joe introduced Ursula to Child's Voice and asked if she would want to help the organization.   Since joining the Board of Directors, Ursula has become active with the Marketing Committee and has joined the Gala 2012 committee.

At Schaumburg Bank and Trust, Ursula serves as an Executive Vice President and runs the Commercial Lending Department (for commercial real estate).  She is influential in all aspects of the Banks functions, from budgeting, sales and marketing, human resources, acquisitions, and operations.  Her educational background has been a great fit for her professional ventures.  Ursula holds a degree from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign in Finance and an MBA from the University of Chicago in Entrepreneurship and Accounting.

Outside of her work life, Ursula has a variety of interests.  She enjoys traveling and has most recently traveled to Barcelona, Spain where husband spent his early years.  Spending time with her family is a priority.  She also enjoys writing and cooking.  To add to her many talents, Ursula speaks Polish and Spanish fluently.

Ursula has found the children, parents and teachers that she has met at Child's Voice very inspiring and shares that the accomplishments and successes of these children motivate her to stay involved and seek opportunities to help spread the word of Child's Voice mission.

Ursula lives in Bartlett with her husband, Oscar and two children - Alex and Julia.

Thank you, Ursula, for joining out Board.  We look forward to continuing to work with you and appreciate your dedication to the families at Child's Voice.
