Audiology Suggestions

Always open your battery door at night.

Don't store hearing aid or cochlear implant batteries in your freezer...it will drain and could destroy them!

The Foundation of our Organization
As Child's Voice approaches its 16th birthday, we wanted to take a moment and look back at where Child's Voice started and see how far it has come.

Six families came together.  These families didn't want to be living in two different cities, mom in one town with the child with hearing loss, dad in a different town.  These families wanted their child to be able to join the mainstream, neighborhood schools.  They wanted to be able to communicate with their child and for the child to communicate with grandparents, aunts, uncles, neighbors and friends without the use of sign language.

These families sought out a listening and spoken language alternative.  To find out more of how Child's Voice was founded and the milestones in the past 16 years.  CLICK HERE for the full story.

Special thanks to Volunteers
Special thanks to John McCortney for his recent volunteer work as a storyteller at Child's Voice as part of the Hot Chocolate Day.

Volunteers are an integral part of Child's Voice and allow us to provide services to the many children in the Early Intervention and School Programs.

Interested in getting involved?  A great way to help is to support Child's Voice is to volunteer on one of the special event committees.  We are recruiting for the annual Golf Tournament and Gala committees.  Volunteers are asked to attend monthly meetings and help to recruit attendees, suggest sponsorship opportunities and secure items for raffles and auctions.  We hope you can join the team! If you are interested in volunteering on a special event committee; please CLICK HERE and contact Child's Voice today!

Getting to Know...
Child's Voice Board Members

Barb Regnitz, CFP

Barb has known Child's Voice for over three years, but she just recently joined the Board of Directors and we're so glad to have her!  Looking for a way to volunteer, Barb was referred through a number of current board members including Board President, Mark Levy.

When she's not giving back to the community, Barb is looking for ways to help others manage their monies as a Financial Advisor and Certified Financial Planner ™, or in her words, she's a Money Geek! Ultimately, her job is to help develop a strategy for clients that are retired so they don't have to worry about the ups and downs of the market and economy.  Quite the skill set in this current economic climate.

When she's not pinching pennies, Barb can be found deep in the dirt in her own backyard. She's a huge vegetable gardener and cultivates over 36 tomato plants, 72 pepper plants, green/yellow beans, herbs, cucumbers and so much more.  She's hoping to expand from her "Tomato Barb" status to growing strawberries, raspberries and melons.  Yum!  Barb also enjoys hiking and the outdoors and her hidden talents (aside from being the ultimate gardener) include being quite the "techie" after being in Information Technology for 16 years.

Barb has experienced a minor hearing loss since she was a child, so she is very empathetic to the challenges that our children face each day. She's excited to be part of the Board and enjoyed meeting families at the Recognition Ceremony, Walk4Hearing Kickoff and Family Reunion this year.

Barb resides in Rolling Meadows with her husband Tim. They recently celebrated 33 years of marriage!  She has an adult daughter that is also a "Money Geek"...it must run in the family!

Thank you Barb for joining the Child's Voice Board of Directors and for all you are doing to make Child's Voice a success!
