Parents Corner
December is a great time for family time.
Take the opportunity to do some baking with your child.

You can work on those early developing vocabulary words (milk, eggs, pour, stir) as well as academic skills (1/2 cup, stir for 2 minutes, how many cookies will you need if everyone gets 3 cookies?)

And then you can all share in the delicious results! Yum!

December is also a perfect opportunity to document family memories.
Make a photo book of your family's celebrations that you and your child can look through throughout the year.

What a fun way to keep your child connected to family members that they don't see everyday!

December 2011
Happy Holidays and Happy Winter!

The Winter Festival was held on Wednesday, December 21st and what a great time it was!  We had standing room only and many thanks to the families and friends that came to see the performance!

Congratulations to all the Early Intervention kiddos, School students, teachers and staff that made the performance such fun and so very memorable.

We hope you were able to join us for this special day and hope you will plan to make it part of your holidays next year.

Will You Be Heard?
This is a special time of year.  We hear bells ringing, voices singing and children laughing.  Our students enjoy the sounds of the season too...all because they are able to speak, listen, laugh and sing through their education at Child's Voice.

Child's Voice, much like its students has big dreams and big goals this year.  But instead of dreaming of becoming a police officer or movie star, Child's Voice needs to raise over $422,000 to meet the needs of our programs and services.  This is a 150% increase over last year.  These goals can only be reached through the support of each and every Child's Voice friend and family member.

Your support creates opportunities for families and children with hearing loss to benefit from the services and support found in the Early Intervention Program, for exciting technology and dedicated teachers to be part of everyday learning and for Child's Voice to grow and expand - to share the gift of language with more children each year.

Please make your voice heard now! You can do so online through our secure server and support Child's Voice today. CLICK HERE to donate online.

Every dollar raised through this appeal is matched dollar-for-dollar by an anonymous family foundation - giving your donation TWICE the impact.  Every gift makes a difference and we are hoping to have 100% support from all our Child's Voice families and friends.  It's not about the amount of your gift, but that you give.

So far this fiscal year (started on July 1), only 14% of parents have supported. Please consider making a gift today and join other families as we work to give our children voices - to let them be heard.

Will we hear from you?

Getting to Know...
Child's Voice Board Members

Deborah Pergament
Deborah was no stranger to Child's Voice prior to joining the Board of Directors.  As a lawyer, Deborah had interacted with many and learned about our programs through her representation of families that were pursuing education for their children with hearing loss.  Through her work, Deborah sees firsthand many schools and programs throughout the year and she feels that Child's Voice is a, "model of a school that is child-centered and provides a program that is research-based and effective."

Her commitment to families and children with hearing loss is evident through her dedicated work and involvement at Child's Voice. Deborah currently serves at the Managing Attorney of Children's Law Group, LLC and is also a Clinical Instructor at the DePaul University College of Law.

When not championing for children with hearing loss, Deborah can be found playing the cello, gardening, cooking, reading or running.  Deborah has a very close knit family of relatives and friends and she has spread her love enthusiasm for Child's Voice to all of them and encouraged their involvement with our programs and special events.  We're grateful for her family's dedication and support of our mission!

Deborah resides in Chicago with her two standard poodles, Cecily and Milly who, "earn their keep," as Client Support Canines at Children's Law Group.

Thank you Deborah for all you do for children and families with hearing loss and Child's Voice.
