Greetings from Child's Voice

We cannot believe the summer is already at its end and the school year has begun!  We are very excited to have the kiddos back on site and look forward to an exciting and fun year.

We invite you to visit the School and EI Programs throughout the year to see the miracles that happen every day in the halls of Child's Voice!

Great Sounds Continue with the Harmony Club

Laughter, giggles, squeals of excitement - these are all sounds heard at the annual Harmony Club Summer Picnic.  This year, the Picnic is Saturday, September 10th from 11:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.  Located at the Catherine Chevalier Woods in Chicago, near the intersection of NE River Road and W Foster Avenue, this Picnic is held annually by the Harmony Club to benefit the current and alumni families of Child's Voice.

Child's Voice continues to benefit from the generosity of the Harmony Club, which supports the Local 134 I.B.E.W. (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers).  The principles of the Club are Education, Harmony and Loyalty.  Many of the members are third and fourth generation electricians and continue to enjoy the memories the picnic creates each year!

Don't miss the Picnic which includes delicious picnic foods and entertainment - past years featured the balloon artists, mini-train rides and even giant snakes!  Thank you to the Harmony Club for years of generosity.  We look forward to seeing everyone in September!

Alumni News

Child's Voice continues to focus on the importance of our alumni.  With the new alumni committee outreach, we are hoping to involve even more alumni families.  You're such an important part of our history and, of course, our future!

We've been thrilled to receive alumni testimonials from some of our families.  We hope that many more alumni will take the time to share updates on their successes and share their story with all of the Child's Voice family.  Please CLICK HERE to email the Child's Voice team with your recent news and feedback.

Alumni Feature
Joanna wasn't born deaf, but developed hearing loss from treatment she received at a very young age.  After attending a school that taught sign language, Joanna's family was excited to learn of a school that could provide her with the ability to communicate more easily with her family.

Supporting Voices

Thank you to all our donors that have helped us kick off the new fiscal year (began July 1st)! We have a big goal this year to raise $741,000 so every little bit helps!  Your support makes a difference every day in the lives of our students.

Kainz Donation July2011

Special thanks to the Kainz Family Foundation!
A special thank you to the Kainz Family Foundation for their recent support of $10,000! An affiliate of the Foundation, the Onion Pub & Brewery, located in Lake Barrington, has been a longtime supporter of Child's Voice through the annual Golf Tournament.

We are excited for future opportunities to partner with the Kainz Family and the Onion Pub & Brewery.  We hope you'll take a moment to stop by this fun restaurant to say thank you too!  Thank you again Kainz Family!

In Other Development News...
Child's Voice is participating in the Combined Federal Campaign in Chicago for the first time!  This Campaign coordinates all federal offices for the Chicago region into one fundraising effort - and these federal employees can choose to support Child's Voice!

If you work for a federal office in the Chicago area - be sure to choose Child's Voice - CFC #48821.  Spread the word to friends and family that work for federal offices too - this includes the Post Office, Social Security Office, and much more!
Have a great school year!

You'll be hearing from us!
