Diesel Emission Reduction Grant Program Launched

The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (Ohio EPA) plans to award up to $10 million in federal highway Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) funding for clean diesel projects in 2012, and another $10 million in 2013. In this Diesel Emission Reduction Grant (DERG) program, public and private sector diesel fleet operators can apply for grants to pay for emission reduction equipment, repowers, or replacement vehicles. Ohio EPA will conduct an information session on the DERG program at NOACA's office on Thursday, November 3 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. to answer questions and assist diesel fleet operators interested in applying for grants. Applications will be due in January 2012. For more information, contact Carolina Prado, Environmental Specialist, Division of Air Pollution Control, Ohio EPA.

NOACA Technical Memo Assesses Lake County Pavements

How well are pavements holding up in Lake County? A recently published NOACA technical memo analyzes pavement conditions on the federal aid-eligible roadways in each of Lake County's communities, using pavement data collected in 2010. If you would like to view pavement conditions on other federal-aid roads in NOACA's five-county area, access NOACA's Regional Pavement Management System on the web.

Voice Your Opinion About Proposed Transportation Improvements

NOACA welcomes public review and comment on all of its federally funded programs and projects. For the next month, descriptions of fifteen proposed road, bridge and transit projects from Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake and Lorain Counties will be available on the NOACA website for review and comment. At their December meeting, the NOACA Governing Board will consider adding these projects to the region's long-range transportation plan.

Feedback Sought on WestShore Corridor Transportation Project Plan

Will commuter rail or long-distance commuter bus service operating along the north shore from Sandusky to Cleveland be part of northeast Ohio's transportation future? The Lorain County Commissioners, Lorain County Alliance, and WestShore Corridor Commuter Rail Task Force, along with private sector representatives, have been studying transportation options in the travel corridor between these two major cities. The project team has examined travel options, costs, benefits and funding/financing proposals and now seeks public input on the package of available options for the WestShore Corridor. To register a comment, visit the WestShore Corridor Transportation Project website.
