| OhioRideshare Program Helps Launch Vanpools | |
With assistance from NOACA's OhioRideshare staff and Vanpool Services, Inc., five vanpools

have been formed to transport employees of the Louis Stokes Veterans Administration Medical Center to work in Cleveland's University Circle neighborhood. The vanpools serve commuters from Akron, Fairlawn, Painesville, and Cuyahoga Falls. NOACA works with organizations throughout northeast Ohio, helping their employees consider various options for getting to work. NOACA Establishes Air Quality and Water Quality Advisory Committees | |
Last month, the NOACA Governing Board approved eliminating the Environmental Advisory Committee and elevating the agency's air quality and water quality subcommittees to full committee status. The Water Quality Advisory Committee met for the first time August 24, and both committees will meet next on Wednesday, November 16 at NOACA's office. |

Commuter Challenge 2011 Results are In! | |

commute habits and carpool, take transit, bike, walk, or telecommute to work to support Commuter Challenge 2011. Almost 2,000 people participated, resulting in 87,400 vehicle miles and $13,100 dollars saved. In addition, the region's air was spared from 75,000 pounds of pollution. NOACA staff tabulated these results and more during the two-week challenge. The Greater Cleveland RTA and Laketran distributed free passes during Commuter Challenge, offering incentive for people to ride the bus. |

NOACA Air Quality Programs Annual Report and Broadview Heights Capacity Analysis Posted on Website | |
T wo new reports are now posted on the NOACA website. The Air Quality Programs Annual Report includes staff activities undertaken during the year, results from Commuter Challenge 2010 and a summary of air quality advisories issued in 2010. The Broadview Heights Capacity Analysis, a technical report completed for the city under the Links component of NOACA's Transportation for Livable Communities Initiative, assesses traffic operations on Broadview Road at three intersections and recommends improvements for better traffic flow and safety. |

If you work in downtown Cleveland, stop by the WDOK Soft Rock Free Lunch event at Star Plaza on Wednesday, September 14 between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. NOACA staff will be on hand to talk about the OhioRideshare program and distribute air quality information.
The fifth annual Ohio Conference on Freight will be  held September 20 - 21 at the Hilton Hotel Toledo and Dana Conference Center. This year's conference features sessions on federal legislation regarding freight issues, rail innovations and connections to east coast ports, freight studies and the future of ocean trade. Tours of the Port of Toledo and the Walgreens Regional Distribution Center in Perrysburg, Ohio are also part of the conference. Learn more about the event or register today. |
