Commodity & Food Bank Task Force Celebrates

Lula Belle Puckett's 32 Years of Service

to Hickman County's Mission House

Lula Belle Puckett is passionate about helping others.  Since 1980, she has volunteered for Mission House.  The group distributes commodities and goods to the needy individuals and families of Hickman County. 

 

Health issues have led to her recent retirement from volunteering, but said that the time she spent with Mission House was truly rewarding.  Commodity and Food Bank Chairperson, Melonie Chambers presented Puckett with a clock noting her years of service to the Task Force.

Kentucky Broadband Survey

The Office of Broadband Outreach and Development along with the Kentucky Council of Area Development Districts recently launched a new survey as part of the Broadband KY Initiative .  The survey is part of a
rigorous broadband mapping and planning projecct that will provide comprehensive, current, and accurate information on how Kentuckians use broadband.  More than 100,000 businesses, non-profits, health organziations, local governments, and households in Kentucky have been asked to participate.  Have you taken the Survey yet?

Area Agency on Aging & Independent Living
to hold Public Hearing regarding FY2013 Area Plan

A Public Hearing on the Area Agency on Aging & Independent Living's FY2013 Area Plan will be conducted on Monday, March 12, 2012 at 10:30 AM, at the PADD. All interested parties are encouraged to attend.   

A summary of the FY2013 Area Plan will be available February 27, 2012, please contact the PADD to receive a copy.  Public Comments regarding the Plan may be sent to the PADD via mail or e-mailed to vicki.williams@purchaseadd.org. All comments or questions will be addressed at the hearing and included in the final document that will be submitted to the KY Department of Aging and Independent Living.

WKWIB to Release Comprehensive Youth Services
Request for Proposals

The West Kentucky Workforce Investment Board will be releasing its Comprehensive Youth Services Request for Proposals (RFP) on February on February 22, 2012 at http://www.purchaseadd.org A Bidder's Conference will take place at 9:30 AM on February 24, 2012 at Lake Barkley State Resort Park.  

 

Comprehensive Youth Services provides workforce development services to economically disadvantaged youth, aged 16-21.  The focus of the program is helping youth raise their basic skills, learn work readiness skills, and prepare for college and/or the workforce.
