Sam's Club Sponsors Food Drive to Support
Meals on Wheels Association of America

Judy Jackson, Director of the Ballard County Senior Citizen Center; Lee King, Chair of the PADD Aging Committee; and Kim Sparkz, of Sam's Club, survey items collected by the Paducah store during a recent food drive.

Sam's Club of Paducah recently sponsored a food drive to support the local Meals on Wheels program coordinated thru the Area Agency for Aging and Independent Living.  SAM'S Club and the Meals on Wheels Association of American have conducted food drives across the nation to benefit the home delivered meal consumers.

Hundreds of items were donated by members and will be divided up among the region's senior nutrition programs.  Some of the collected food will be distributed to at-risk seniors, for their use on weekends, when home delivered meals are not provided.  Industrial sized cans collected will be used by the senior centers to prepare the home delivered meals.  The Area Agency on Aging appreciates SAM'S Club of Paducah's efforts and looks forward to a continuing relationship to benefit the county nutrition home delivered meal programs.

Should the General Assembly Encourage more Permittee-Responsible Mitigation that Includes Funding for Sewer Projects and Straight Pipes?

One of the issues confronting the 2012 Kentucky General Assembly is mitigation funding for polluted water.  The main concern is whether or not to allow a portion of mitigation money to be used by sewer plants in counties where a disturbance in water quality has occurred.   Click here to read "Polluted Water" prepared by Tanya Monsanto for the Legislative Research Commission's Issues Confronting the 2012 Kentucky General Assembly.
