Howdy from sunny Montana!
Here's hoping your spring is in full swing; sure is nice to see all the green again. Things have been busy around here; my show season went well, and it was interesting to experience my biggest show in Las Vegas. Now is my best painting time, with long days and lots of new ideas coming.
I went out on a limb artistically this year and did my first major oil painting. Titled "Polar Plunge", I did enjoy the novelty of the oils, and really tried to make this painting looser and less detailed. It must have worked, for this piece was selected by the prestigious Society of Animal Art for their annual show, to be held in New Jersey later this year. I will be flying out to attend the opening in October and mingle with my fellow artists.
But first, I have three shows this month, so that will keep me hopping! I've had some commissions, and I definitely see a bright spot on the horizon as far as the economy and art sales go. The studio tour is always a kick, having the local folks visit the house; they're surprised by all the taxidermy here. I'll be working on some local wildlife pieces for the Montana shows, and then concentrating on exotic wildlife for the SCI show.
I guess the big news is that Don and I will be married next month! We're planning a delayed honeymoon in east Africa in 2013; it will be hard to wait for that, as I am always greatly inspired by a trip to the plains of Africa.
So, all the best from Hamilton---enjoy your summer!
