A huge thank you goes out to Sara Bleistein, Kate Hartinger, members of QSO, and the volunteers for set-up and clean-up that helped make last Thursday's QUEST formal a big success! Everyone had a great time and we appreciate your hard work in creating a fabulous event!

Congratulations are in order for Kathleen Hendrick (Q17) and Emily Pearson (Q17), who were recently named Merrill Presidential Scholars and recognized as outstanding University of Maryland seniors. Way to go, Kathleen and Emily!

Prospective Student Info Session- 11/10 |
The Recruiting Team will be holding the next prospective student information session this week. Make sure you spread the word about QUEST to any interested freshmen! If you have time, stop on by and share a few of your favorite QUEST moments with prospective students.

Do you want to be more involved in QUEST? Apply for QSO!
QSO Elections are coming up on Wednesday, November 16th. The following positions will be open:
President
- Plan meetings for QSO
- Represent the QUEST community in SUSAs President meetings
- Attend weekly meetings with the QUEST staff
- Facilitate in alumni relations
- Help coordinate all events run by QSO
- Represent the Quest Student Organization
- Delegate other minor responsibilities
Cohort Champion
- Represent their cohort of students as a liaison to suggest new ideas
- Coordinate improvements to the QUEST community
- Possible amendments to the QSO charter
- Plan at least one cohort meetup event a semester
- Support QSO in the areas of administration, event marketing, logistics and promoting social activity
School Champion
- Represent the QUEST community in their prospective school meetings
- School champions will support QSO in areas of administration, event marketing, logistics, and promoting social activity
- School champions ensure that their school's majors will be represented
Alumni Chair
- Attend alumni meetings, phone calls, and plan alumni events.
- Support QSO in areas of administration, event marketing, logistics, and promoting social activity
If you are thinking of running, please send an email (a few sentences) to mkramer@terpmail.umd.edu with the position you intend on running for and what ideas you can bring to QSO. Applicant speeches will be made immediately before elections on November 16th, so start planning now!

QUEST Curriculum |
QUEST students must enroll in the following courses in order to receive their QUEST notation at graduation:
BMGT/ENES 190H (Fall Sophomore Year)
BMGT/ENES 390H
BMGT/ENES 490H (Fall Senior Year)
Two electives
Current elective choices can be found here, but QUEST students may also nominate electives to become QUEST electives if they focus on quality management, process improvement, system design, or consulting practices. To nominate an elective, please send a syllabus for the course to Nicole Coomber at ncottre@umd.edu with the names of two other students who also support the nomination of this elective. The Curriculum Review Committee will meet on 11/17 and consider any nominations.

ACC Student Leadership Conference

Hey, QUESTers...please consider applying for the 2012 ACC Student Leadership Conference!
The 2012 ACC Leadership Conference is a three day leadership learning opportunity for 6 students from each of the 12 Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) schools to engage in interactive workshop sessions, keynote addresses, and hands-on small group work addressing the ethics of Globalization with a special focus on water.

University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
Application Deadline:
Friday, November 11th at 5:00 p.m.
Any full-time undergraduate at the University of Maryland is eligible to apply. All expenses are paid by the University of Maryland and the ACC for the 6 selected undergraduates.
The ACC Student Leadership Conference is one of the few opportunities to engage with students from all 12 ACC schools to explore complex social issues that are common topics to students on all of the campuses and examine the leadership solutions that we as an ACC may be able to advance.
