A Note to Cohort 16
By Dr. Joseph P. Bailey, QUEST Executive Director
Congratulations QUEST Seniors!
Spring is a bittersweet time of year for our QUEST community. We say goodbye to our QUEST seniors while we say welcome to our incoming cohort of students...The significance of our QUEST seniors is a reflection on the success of our community and also a high standard for our returning QUEST students. Since our community emphasizes action learning and engages our alumni, faculty, staff, and corporate partners, many people and organizations can delight in the trajectory of our seniors after graduation. Many seniors told me that they were able to draw upon their QUEST experiences in job interviews to help find an opportunity that best fits their passion...Read More

Looking Back on Three Years of QUEST
Article By Russell Lyons (Q16)
Becoming a part of QUEST was one of the most important things that happened to me during my time at Maryland. I still remember the day I found out I would be joining QUEST: I was sitting at my summer internship, trying to look busy near the end of the day, when I got a call from Rachel Cohen asking if I was interested in joining. I had originally been on the waitlist; I was so excited, I was at a loss for words on the phone...Read More

QUESTpedition - Sustainability Challenge
Article by Varisha Parikh (Q18)
The QUEST program can be defined using many different adjectives, emotions, and experiences. After participating in my first QUESTpedition, I believe that QUEST is above all innovation and family.
On Friday May 6th, three cohorts of QUEST students gathered in the Tyser Auditorium of Van Munching Hall. The opening presentation, given by Dr. Bailey, detailed the student-driven accomplishments and outreach of the QUEST program. Dr. Bailey's speech set the tone for this event and it truly felt as though the whole QUEST community had come together...Read More

QSO - Annual Spring BBQ
Article by Reeta Francis (Q17)
On May 7th, the space shuttle Endeavour was launched in Cape Canaveral, the Germans signed the German Instrument of Surrender in Rheims France ending World War II, and Glenn Miller recorded "Chattanooga Choo Choo" with his orchestra. More importantly, May 7th was the day that QUEST hosted its annual QSO BBQ, a welcome to new QUEST students and a farewell to departing QUEST graduates...Read More

Looking Forward to Senior Year!
Article by Jeff Jacobs (Q17)
As the tenuous tittles of time trickle tenaciously towards the terminal task of my Quality Enhancement Systems and Teams Noble Threefold Path to Enlightenment, I have many hopes, fears, and questions about what exactly this final act of QUESTlightenment entails. Cogitating my apprehension one day whilst grazing the hallways of Van Munching Hall, I came upon a burning copy machine. After taking my sandals off instead of pulling the fire alarm for some reason, I heard the voice of the great JP Beezy (Dr. Bailey), the QUEST deity himself, speaking to me from the incendiary consumer electronics device in his characteristically soothing yet attention-grabbing tone...Read More
