Friday, September 14th...

we open for the fall season.  Yes, fall is knocking and I will most certainly give a warm (or should I say cool?) welcome.  I'm always ready for the crisp, cooler days of fall.  And speaking of cool we'll be serving complimentary pineapple basil ice cream our opening weekend - Friday, September 14th through Sunday the 16th, or while it lasts.  Yum.

There is a LOT going on here this fall:  new products in the guest house, classes and workshops, and a new luncheon program I'm trying out that I think will be a hit.  Don't worry... the traditional luncheons are still here.  I just wanted to add something new and different and give it a whirl.  Details are below and on the website

Hope to see everyone out here this fall.  Enjoy the season!

Dining Room
New:  Casual Fridays Luncheons

About once a month or so we'll have a "Casual Fridays" lunch.  The same fresh and delicious food you've enjoyed but leaning more towards hearty salads and soup.  Lunch will include a couple of our popular salads, a generous cup of soup, homemade bread or rolls and dessert... herbal of course...served buffet-style as always.  Some of you who have been here before may be wondering what's changed from our traditional luncheons.  Two things basically:  no green salad/appetizer course, and the price is $2.00 less.  And for those of you who need to get back to work or have other obligations it will be a little less time than our traditional luncheons.  Check the "Events Calendar" page of the website for scheduled Fridays.  For more information click here.

Looking ahead to October, Cheesemaking!

Easy as pie (easier actually) and much better than store-bought. Fresh ricotta, cream cheese, creme fraiche, mascarpone, and one or two more gems I'll share with you.  Just in time for the holidays... impress your family and friends with your cheesemaking skills!

Wildflowers Fall Workshop - Wildflowers

Why a workshop on wildflowers in the fall, you might wonder?  Late summer through late fall is THE time to plant wildflower seeds, that's why!  And all participants will receive a FREE bag of wildflower seeds to plant this fall.
Participants will learn how to prepare the soil and plant for best results.  No, you don't just throw out the seeds and hope for the best.
Date:  Saturday, October 6th
Time:  9:00 a.m. (about 1 hour long)
Cost:   FREE
For details click here.

Although this workshop is free and everyone is welcome, I ask that you please call or email to let us know you will be coming.  We always serve a breakfast goodie and beverage, plus all participants will receive a bag of wildflower seeds.  We'll need to know how many people to expect.

Plants for Sale!

With everything else going on around here I almost forgot to tell you about the PLANTS.  After all, we are an herb farm.

Herb plants, Texas natives, wildflowers, fall vegetables.  We have a good selection now but will have a better selection once the weather cools just a bit, in fact just about the time we open for fall.  Most everything we have will be listed on the "Plants" page of the website and I keep that updated pretty well.  But if you have any questions please call or email.

For those of you that have been to Pineywoods Herb Farm and know that Richard (my better half) has been restoring a vintage 1906 clawfoot bathtub to be installed in the guest house bathroom... the bathtub is complete and in place!  That has been the last thing necessary to complete the restoration of the house... a project that has taken close to twelve years.  We are very proud of the house and we'd love for you to come on out and take a look.  And if you'd like, you can even take a bath!
