YOU ASKED... WE DELIVER

Pineywoods Herb Farm is open by appointment only during the winter.  We take this time to get ready for spring:  seeding hundreds of heirloom tomato plants and other vegetables and herbs, making fresh potpourri and our herbal salve, restocking our herbal teas, labeling soap and lots, lots more.  It is also the time I introduce new products and services to you, and I'm excited to unveil a program that I know will be of interest to quite a few of you.  Keep on reading for more information.

Enjoy the slower, quieter winter season... spring will be here before we know it.

You asked, we deliver... BREAD!

Almost every luncheon I host here at the herb farm I have people asking me if I sell the bread, or the salad dressing, or the dessert.  Sometimes I will have made and packaged extra salad dressing to sell and I have in the past sold a variety of fresh breads on an occasional basis.  To my knowledge there is no place in our East Texas area that bakes high-quality, artisan bread equal to what we bake here at the herb farm, and I want to make our bread more available to those who want it.  And from the inquiries I get there are quite a few of you who want it.

As I was reading an article about Community Supported Agriculture the thought occurred to me:  Why can't I do that with fresh bread?  Why can't I have "subscribers" who commit to purchase at least one loaf of fresh bread on a regular basis?  And I could offer add-ons to the bread such as our house salad dressing, our very popular lavender cookies and other items as well.  The more I thought about the idea the more it made sense.

The program will work like this:  those interested will commit to a loaf of freshly-baked Pineywoods Herb Farm bread every two weeks.  The "commitment" is on a monthly basis so it will really be a commitment to two, and possibly three, loaves of bread each month.  To deliver, we will be at a specific location in Lufkin, Nacogdoches, and Crockett for about 30 minutes and subscribers can pick up their bread at that time.  For a small additional fee will can deliver to a home or place of business.

The cost:  $8.50 for a freshly baked, absolutely wonderful, large (1 1/2 to 2 pound) loaf of bread.  It could be a whole grain loaf one week, a loaf of rosemary bread the next time, ciabatta, pumpernickel, cinnamon-raisin, the list goes on.  At the beginning of the month I will send out an email to  subscribers letting them know what type bread will be available that month.  I will also list the "add-ons" that can be ordered such as salad dressing, lavender cookies, a dozen of our unbelievable cinnamon rolls with cream cheese icing, even some fresh produce from our organic gardens in the spring, summer and fall.  Add-ons are optional and will be priced separately.

If you are interested in this program PLEASE SEND ME AN EMAIL.  I will provide complete information and you can decide if you'd like to participate.   I expect this to be a popular program and I can only take a limited number of subscribers so if you have an interest don't delay.  This program will begin the first of February.

Valentine's Day goodies!

This time of year I get asked if we do a Valentine's Day event such as lunch or dinner.  Because I use the guest house where luncheons are held as my "seed propagation facility" in January and early February I cannot host a special luncheon or dinner.  However, this Valentine's Day I will be offering some very special goodies, all made right here with the finest ingredients:  chocolate truffles, chocolate mint cupcakes, our famous lavender cookies and orange rosemary muffins (perfect for a special breakfast).

More information will be forthcoming in the February newsletter and on our website.  All items will be sold by advance order only and yes, we will deliver.  So if you would like to treat someone special to something very special this Valentine's Day watch for our February newsletter, check out the website, or email me for more information.
