Why I Share My Time, Talents & Treasure
by Kris Hall
My name is Kristine Hall and I have been volunteering at St. Michael's as long as I can remember. I began volunteering at school when my daughter started there. She's now in the 8th grade. Every year I helped out weekly in the classroom as well as often being the party coordinator. I learned quickly that it was an easy way to learn who your child's friends were; it allowed me to know the teacher better and to understand where she stood amongst her classmates on the learning curve. I now volunteer in the nurse's office a few hours a week.
Around the time my daughter was in kindergarten, I got a call asking me to help with AprilFest (now SpringFest). I had no idea what it was but I decided to offer my help. I told the caller that I'd help "wherever I was needed." Little did I know she'd put me on the Planning Committee! The group I met at the first meeting told me it might be fun and they have since become some of my dearest friends. I have been on the Planning Committee for 8 years now.

 Why I Volunteer
by Mikayla Thompson
Hello, my name is Mikayla Thompson and I am a 12 year old parishoner at St Michael Church. I enjoy volunteering at St Michaels because I like being involved with the church. My faith has grown by alter serving at Mass and lectoring for Children's Liturgy. I have a deeper appreciation for the Mass and the Eucharist. I love singing with the Radiant Light and Joyful Light Choir and getting to know kids my age. Singing in choir has made me realize we all have gifts to share. I have grown as a young person by speaking and singing in front of large groups. Volunteering and sharing my time and talents has deepened my faith and made me feel closer to God. I would encourage everyone to share their time and talents that God has given to us all. God Bless.
Why I Volunteer
by Liz Beissel
Volunteering through the BeFriender Ministry has kept me connected to a deep love of what I did years ago when I was in the convent - serving others. As a BeFriender, being a listener and bringing the presence of Christ and our church to others is a growth experience in faith and love. Meeting regularly with others who share this passion of service brings benefits many never expected to find. I am happy to be able to facilitate these meetings for them and help with their service to others. With the strenght and resources available through the National BeFriender Ministry, we have been able to mold a strong listening presence for people in need of this kind of ministry. Why I Volunteer
by Ashley Zweber
Volunteering has always been a part of my life. I learned how to help others when I was little from school and at home. There are many reasons why I serve: It helps me appreciate what I have, it helps me bond with my friends, and it brings me closer to God. When volunteering, it opens your eyes to how things could be in your life. While volunteering for the poor and or less fortunate, you become grateful for the things you have in your life.
Volunteering as a group can be really fun! I have gone to Catholic Heart Workcamp now three times, and it is amazing what can be accomplished when people work together. Not only can you work through numerous tasks faster with more people, but you can also get to know the people with whom you are working very well.
Last but not least, it brings me closer to God. Knowing that I am helping out another part of His creation is amazing. The feeling that you get when you find out that the little things you have done can impact someone's life in the simplest way, gives me goosebumps. Volunteering is a great way to share your gifts with the rest of the world!
