Fr. Sieg's Message

Greetings!

I am sure that many people have already noticed how late Ash Wednesday is this year. It falls on March 9, moving Easter to April 24. I have often thought it would be easier if Easter was always celebrated on the second Sunday of April so that there would be some consistency in these feasts. It seems unlikely that this will happen but it may be more acceptable if we recall how these dates are set and have been set for centuries.

Scouts Thanksgiving Project

Dozens of young people affiliated with the Church of St. Michael and/or St. Michael Catholic School are involved with Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts, and have teamed up with other parish groups to support the local community with enthusiasm and creativity.

Why YOU Should Attend a Retreat
This Lenten Season Lenten Retreat attendees

We live in a world of busyness - constant noise, activity, distraction, hurry and stress. God is with us in the midst of the confusion and hurry, but it's often hard for us to recognize him. A retreat is one way to slow down so we can fully hear His call.  It's an opportunity to take a fresh look at life, sort things out. How is life going? Where is it going? Where is God in all this? In the peace of a retreat we can find a heightened awareness of God, and a renewed energy and enthusiasm to walk in our Catholic Christian life.

Here at St. Michael, members of this faith community have numerous opportunities to go on retreats, but only two are offered during Lent. Discover why you should attend the Women's Lenten Morning of Reflection (March 12) and the St. Michael Lenten Retreat (March 19).

Other News & Events

According to legend, St. Valentine wrote to people who were facing the dangers of persecution so that he might encourage them, through his love, to remain strong in their faith. The Valentines that people send today are good - but St. Valentine's idea was even better.

Sincerely,

Fr. Tom Sieg
