In Memory of Edward L. (Ed) Nelson (1947-2012)

In loving memory of our friend and Sirius employee, we will forever miss our sweet Ed. Ed's contract career with Sirius spanned over a 7 year period. He was one of the most loyal Sirius employees and we loved and supported him until he lost his battle with cancer in March of this year. Our continued thoughts and prayers will be with his sweet wife, Shirley and family. Shirley told us that "Ed sure loved his Sirius Family and she thanked us for being a part of his life!" Sirius Technical Services is the lucky and better one for having the privilege of knowing such an awesome person. Rest in peace dear friend.

Are You Owed Missing Money?

You dig through the closet, pull on a pair of jeans you haven't worn in awhile, reach in your pocket and find a $20! Ahhhh, is there anything that brings a bigger smile to your face? It never grows old! Lost money, whether in your closet or held in a mystery account somewhere, never ceases to bring a smile when you discover it! Did you know that "lost funds" are reported to state treasury departments all the time, and they are just sitting there waiting for the rightful owners to claim them? It might have been the last check from a job, insurance refunded when you switched employers, with-holdings from a former employer, or deposits from rentals, etc.... It might even be money left behind from your first high school gig, but the money is still there. There are several sites that help locate lost funds, which are usually sorted by state. Take a moment to browse and see if you have missing money floating around that is owed to you! For other states, google search the state along with "missing funds" and locate the government site that provides free searches. Happy Hunting!

Kim Guasca Named April Employee of the Month

Kim Guasca was voted by senior management as our April EOM! Kim has been with Sirius since 2005, only a few short months after the birth of Sirius. She was the first employee hired under the President and COO. Kim works behind the scenes to make sure our staff of 18, 400 contractors and hundreds of clients receive top service from the entire Sirius staff. She is always the first one here and the last one to leave to make sure everyone affiliated with Sirius is taken care of. Kim started in our admin/payroll department and over the years has taken on higher levels of responsibility. She now oversees the entire office of Sirius. We all admire her commitment to Sirius and we truly appreciate all that she does to make this a wonderful place to work. Congrats, Kim! It is well deserved!

Make Joy and Happiness a Priority in Your Life!
| | |
Signature Lives
So how do we attract happiness, joy and a positive attitude? Quite simply, it means we must use all of our strength to consciously set aside worry and instead, focus on our dreams, goals and how incredibly BLESSED we all are. We must intentionally see the joy around us and grab every wonderful opportunity each day to be thankful to God. You MUST watch the words that come out of your mouth during the day. Are they constructive, do they produce life and not negative energy when you are in meetings, talking on the phone or that self-talk that happens between our ears? We need to be proactive in situations and not reactive. When we start blaming others and reacting to a situation nothing gets accomplished. But, when you decide that you will be proactive, then you access and make a path forward to deal with things that arise in your life. You may not always have a rosy day...but I guarantee you will certainly have more peace in your life and opportunities will begin to arise that will lead to your dreams and goals. Dare to stop all negative thoughts for one day! Or maybe one hour! Your life is waiting for you...create one that you deserve! Siriusly.....Keep Safe!

As winter melts away everyone's thoughts soon turn to springtime and the feeling of the world reborn. As you and your family head out into the fresh spring air, be sure to discuss these common sense topics to keep everyone safe and healthy.
~Allergies~ Allergies are a big part of spring for many people and can leave you feeling like you are really sick. Get advice from your doctor on which allergy medication you should use and keep it handy when the pollen and other allergens strike. Many medications come with drowsiness, so stay away from the alcohol and/or inquire about non-drowsy prescriptions.
~Chemicals~ Over the winter some dangerous household chemicals such as paint thinner and chemical cleaners may have sat in the garage or under the kitchen sink. Contact your local waste authority and find out how to properly dispose of these chemicals.
~Fire Route~ The warm days of spring are a good time to go over the fire escape plan with your family and start doing some practice drills to make sure everyone knows what to do and where to go. Check the batteries in your smoke alarms too!
~Lawn Equipment~ The lawn mower has been sitting all winter and needs a few things done before it can safely be used. Make sure to change out all of the fluids in the mower, and clean out any old grass that is still on the blade. Check out all yard equipment before using. Loose parts, faulty cords and leaky motors can be big problems if not addressed early.
