| Less Stress! |
If you are not a morning person, here are a couple of ideas to make your weeks run smoother and stress free. Your morning sets the tone for the rest of the day, so start your day out right by being prepared and ready ahead of time. Do as much as you can the night before. If you are a parent, pack lunches, set out clothes, make sure backpacks and bags are packed and ready to go, and put your keys and carry along by the door. This way if something unexpected comes up in the morning, you'll have plenty of time to handle it. If you like to work out early in the morning before work, make sure you have your shoes, workout gear, and everything you need for the day by the door. Yes, I have left my laptop at home more than once!!! Take on the practice of preparing for your day the evening before and you'll feel less stressed, more productive, and more focused every day. It is amazing when you organize and plan, how much happier and productive your life becomes. Check out signaturelives.com for information on Life Coaching.

Sirius Celebrates Labor Day
| | Labor Day is a federal holiday in the United States which takes place the first Monday in September. The inception of the holiday dates back to the late 1800's when labor unions formed. It was celebrated by the government as a day to recognize the accomplishments of the American worker. Now, it signifies a day without labor where government entities and many private employers allow their workforces to take a day off with pay. As the holiday evolved, many Americans celebrate Labor Day with parties and parades; as it signifies the last day of summer and the start of a new school year.
THE UNITED STATES CELEBRATED ALL LABOR WORKERS ON SEPT. 5, 2011 THIS YEAR, BUT SIRIUS WILL BE CELEBRATING ALL OF THEIR CONTRACT EMPLOYEES AND THE COMPANIES WHO UTILIZE THEM ON SEPTEMBER 15, 2011.

USELESS INFORMATION THAT WE THOUGHT WAS INTERESTING:

Very interesting and true story, Zappos the company known primarily for its internet shoe business does very little advertising, instead it counts solely on WOWED customers to spread the word and spread it they have.
Another interesting fact is the company hires for culture. Applicants go through two interview processes, one for "the normal things," like skills and abilities and experience, and one for "cultural fit." If applicants don't pass the cultural fit interview, they won't be hired, no matter how good their skills or how great their ability to contribute technically.
Interviewees are met at the airport and driven to Zappos' headquarters for interviews. After the interviews, and after the applicant has been taken back to the airport, the shuttle driver gets his or her say on whether the person should be hired. Treat the driver or receptionist poorly and you won't get the job.
All new hires go through a 4-week training program that includes 2 weeks of taking customer calls. The obvious benefit is getting everyone attuned to the customer service standards of the company. But there's a bonus, Hsieh says. During holidays and heavy sales periods, anyone in the organization can (and does) sit down and start answering phones. That means Zappos never needs to hire temps who might not uphold the company's high customer service standards.
OFFER A Bonus to Quit!!!
Once people complete the 4-week training period, they are offered a $3,000 bonus to quit. It's Zappos' way of saying we only want people who really want to work here. Two or three percent of trainees take the bonus and leave, Hsieh says. Zappos believes that this is money well-spent as these are people who probably wouldn't have lasted long anyway. There seems to be a positive effect on the trainees who stay. They're just that much more committed for having rejected the departure bonus. HR Daily Advisor

Safety Awareness
Eliminating Workplace Hazards
Sit back for a moment and look around your work area, do you see any hazards?
What about that power cord? Or those boxes piled up around your desk?
How do I identify workplace hazards?
· What can go wrong?
· What are the consequences?
· How could it arise?
· What are other contributing factors?
· How likely is it that the hazard will occur?
After you identify uncontrolled hazards, take steps to
eliminate or reduce them to an acceptable risk level.
