HELP THE TORNADO VICTIMS
| |
A massive (E4) tornado hit northern Alabama on April 27, 2011, killing over 400 people and leaving a path of destruction in several AL, GA and MS towns. These cities are close to home for us here at Sirius, with many of our friends and relatives living near or in these towns especially, Tuscaloosa, which was hit the hardest.
Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected by the storm and all of the volunteers that are working tirelessly to help the families bring restoration. If you would like to help the victims, please see the following donations sites.

Below is an article that came from a Health Coach which helps you see how important it is to LIVE your life with a plan to get your MOJO back and to start enjoying everyday life and increase energy. Here we go:
Staying Flexible during Change
Think of yourself as stretchable, expandable, and able to adapt to anything new. Who wants to view themselves as static, inflexible, and unable to adapt? Periods of change are unpredictable, and we may be asked to adapt to changes that we never anticipated. In order to stay flexible, follow these guidelines:
1. Set short-term goals It is best during changing times to think ahead, but not too far ahead. Focus on goals and tasks that can be achieved in the immediate future. That way we can achieve measurable and motivating results, even if the change plan is altered in some way. Instead of abandoning our efforts because of changing priorities, we complete our short-terms goals and move on.
2. Work in intense bursts of activity Some people call this the "blitz mentality." Complete tasks with intense periods of creative output that produce concrete results. That way we have measurable outcomes that motivate and inspire us to continue our work and, in the process, better engage change.
3. Focus on team efforts Teams are in a constant state of changing responsibilities and deadline. By aligning ourselves with others who are aiming at similar goals, we create the opportunity for flexibility in achieving results. We become more focused on others and less likely to retreat into our own comfort zone. We gain motivation and inspiration from the other members of the team, making us more likely to successfully play a leadership role.
4. Plan for possible change scenarios The most important strategy for staying flexible during change is to prepare for various change scenarios. If we create a plan for each possible set of change circumstances, we are prepared to engage change in any way that affects us in the workplace. This gives us more flexibility, greater confidence, and makes us more likely to be successful in leading change without authority.

| APRIL SHOWERS BRING MAY FLOWERS..... BUT SHOW US THE MONEY???????? | Forget about the flowers...we want to know where the highest pay wages are blooming in the United States for our pool of contract employees! A recent study released by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics for 2010 indicate that if you are preparing to chase the high rates, you might end up in the Big Apple! New York County, home to Manhattan, boasted the highest average weekly wage in 2010, which is up about 9 percent than the previous year. Lining up behind New York County is #2, Santa Clara County, which covers most of California's Silicon Valley. They hit the chart with the largest year-over year increase in wages. Rounding out the five county areas with the highest average weekly wages were #3 Washington, D.C., #4 Arlington, VA and #5 Fairfield, CT. The increase in these wages according to the Bureau was fueled by the manufacturing industry. For all of us southerners down here at the bottom of the map, unfortunately we have experienced the highest decline in wages. Fort Bend County, Texas located in the Houston metropolitan area ranked #1 in the steepest decline in average weekly wages, 1.7 percent decrease from the past years over year. Decline in construction funding, projects and employment was the contributing factor according the the Bureau of Labor Statistics. (srreview March 2011) |

Memorial Day, May 31, 2011
| We cherish too, the Poppy red That grows on fields where valor led, It seems to signal to the skies That blood of heroes never dies. Moina Michael DID YOU KNOW?To help re-educate and remind Americans of the true meaning of Memorial Day, the "National Moment of Remembrance" resolution was passed on Dec 2000 which asks that at 3 p.m. local time, for all Americans "To voluntarily and informally observe in their own way a moment of remembrance and respect, pausing from whatever they are doing for a moment of silence or listening to 'Taps." DON'T FORGET TO HONOR THOSE THAT GAVE THEIR LIVES FOR YOUR FREEDOM ON MEMORIAL DAY 2011!

Seven Things To Bring Up In Your Interview
An interview should not be an interrogation. It should be a conversation between two equals. Keep this in mind when you enter into the room with an interviewer. To keep the flow of that conversation moving you should have some answers thought out ahead of time. Don't stick to a script and sound like a robot. Just have a general idea of how you would answer these questions when they are brought up. You can also try to bring them up yourself but make sure it comes up somewhat organically.
1. Times where you either made money or saved money for your current or previous company
2. A crisis in your life or job and how you responded or recovered from it.
3. A time where you functioned as part of a team and what your contribution was.
4. A time in your career or job where you had to overcome stress.
5. A time in your job where you provided successful leadership or sense of direction.
6. A failure that occurred in your job and how you overcame it.
7. Any seminal events that happened during your career to cause you to change direction and how that worked out.
Remember the interviewer is not only looking for great answers but also a good first impression. Make them feel comfortable by being professional yet casual. Interviewing is also stressful for them and understanding that will help take some of their power away creating a much more friendly environment.
