According to a 2010 CAREERBUILDER survey, our clients and job candidates are engaging with social media, however they may or may not be engaging with us! Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter are the clear leaders among social media outlets, yet very few staffing firms have found ways to effectively engage with the staffing industry overall. Spring Forward The Staffing Industry Year 2020

What will the staffing industry look like in the year 2020? Will we look like the childhood cartoons The Jetson's getting ready for work? Will it be the same? Will it be different? While no one knows for sure what the year 2020 will bring until it is here, the SI Review gave us some predictions from the crystal ball of industry veterans, staffing executives and workplace experts.
Today, roughly 10% of the workforce is contingent, which is roughly 3.4 million employees and $185 billion in U.S. temp revenue according to Staffing Industry Analysts. JoAnn Wagner, CEO of SOS Staffing predicts that by 2020, between 15% and 25% of the workforce will be contingent as more and more companies recognize the benefits of the staffing industry.
Economics will be a big variable in the future states Tom Kosnik, Staffing Consultant. It is more cost effective for companies to outsource a certain percentage of their workforce, plain and simple! Companies will begin the see the cost savings of hiring contingent workers to their bottom line.
Currently commercial staffing is still about 45% of the overall market, by 2020 our analysis predicts that professional skills will comprise nearly two-thirds of U.S. Staffing spend.
We could not have an article on the future without mentioning robots...yes robots! A company called Anybots has developed a robot that allows a remote worker to be "onsite" without being there in person! The robot, called QB, allows a remote worker to control the robot from his or her computer and interact verbally with colleagues as well as see them in person. Because the robot is mobile, it can follow others around the office and engage in communication that might not be possible with just a speaker phone in a conference room! Technological change has always been a significant driver for change in the staffing industry, but robots when they come, may take change to a whole new level!
The Forecast for 2020
· The staffing Industry will continue to grow
· There will be more awareness and acceptance in the industry
· Social Media will still be popular
· More staffing companies will be taking advantage of video conferencing and video interviewing
· Staffing companies of all sizes will be using Apps
· Business travel will be down...but pleasure travel will still be popular
· There will be an increase in mergers and acquisitions
· More staffing companies will operate on a global level
· There will be more 1099 compliance
· The worker shortage will continue
· By 2020, many Baby Boomers, realizing they didn't save enough money for retirement, will be heading back to work....Contract!

Below is an article that came from a Health Coach which helps you see how important it is to LIVE your life with a plan to get your MOJO back and to start enjoying everyday life and increase energy. Here we go:
The F Word and Your Life and Biz!
It can squelch your enthusiasm. It can dampen your belief that you can live a deeply happy, full life. It can compromise the growth of your business like nothing else.
I'm talking about Fatigue, of course.
Or, more specifically, with you ~ the fab female ~ the decidedly un-fab phenomenon of Founder's FatigueTM. Burning the midnight oil, giving up on sleep to create more time - this inevitably takes a toll. Fueling (futilely, I must add) yourself with coffee and sugar takes a MAJOR toll. Getting wrapped up in doing it all and having it all and forgetting that to have it all, you shouldn't do it all. Steep toll? Yep. Churning with doubt; again, takes a toll. All these toll payments eventually deplete your energy bank account and lead to debt and deficiencies.
Result? Burnout.
Mental, emotional, psychological, and physical burnout, including:
❏ Brain fog that clouds your judgement and ability to simply think.
❏ Emotional overwhelm that can extend to the simplest of tasks, let alone the responsibility of pleasing clients and running a business. I remember there was a day during my own crash-and-burn several years ago that I was typing an email... and burst out crying when the phone rang.
❏ Despair, anxiety, and depression. The kind that can eat away at your soul, deepest convictions, and belief in success of any kind.
❏ Apathy. The death of desire, excitement, and productivity.
❏ The onset of chronic health conditions that you could have avoided. Just because you inherited the genes or are getting older doesn't mean you have to creak, ache, or start falling apart. And possibly the saddest cumulative consequence, in our case? Not enough energy to create jobs for others who are waiting for them, achieve the reach and sustainable success you deserve, and manifest your purpose in the world.
The good news?
Fatigue is reversible. And it's usually pretty easy and enjoyable to do. How long it will take to recharge and what aids you may need to help you get there will depend on how deeply your energy bank account is depleted. Starting today, you can easily implement some quick changes to get yourself more energized:
❏ Add 15 minutes of additional sleep a night until you're sleeping at least 8 hours a night.
❏ Drink more water. Our body is 70% water. Dehydration = sneaky fatigue. Aim for 1/2 cup of water or gentle herbal teas, ideally room temperature, per hour that you're awake. More if you're active or in a hot and/or dry climate. Coffee, black tea, and juices don't count.
❏ Cut out the noise. Go on a news fast. Turn off the background TV. This will give your nervous system more bandwidth, more resilience, more space to function.
❏ Eat your well-rounded breakfast! (Remember this one?) I'm going to keep reminding you - until I'm blue in the face or fingertips if I have to - until every single one of you is having a healthy breakfast.
Make sure it's not just bagels, cereal, juice - a veritable refined carb fest that will rob your body of your energy bank account even further. Well-rounded means it has some complex carbs (~60% of calories), some healthy fats (~20% of calories), and some protein (~20% of calories). About 15 grams of proteins is a good benchmark.
Here's a sample breakfast. What I ate this morning, actually: an open face smoked salmon sandwich made with my favorite gluten-free toast and a generous 6 TBS of fresh dill and parsley "stuffed" underneath the 4 oz of salmon. Today, I needed more fat (my body told me!) so I added a pat of butter too. Plus an apple and you have a great start to your day.I know this article is not anything new....but if you truly want to see improvements in your life....just start making yourself a priority. Remember if you are not up to par....you cannot take care of all the other things that you are responsible for. So for one week....decide to drink more water, exercise 20 minutes 3 times a week or eat that breakfast that you always skip!!! Just do it....and see the improvements in all areas of your life!!

SIRIUS SAFETY

Workplace safety is very important to the team here at Sirius and we strive to keep you informed and educated on work place safety.
Workplace Safety Ergonomics
You may be asking yourself what exactly is workplace safety ergonomics and how is it useful to me?
Proper posture and equipment may not seem important but sitting incorrectly can do serious damage to your spine Sitting properly is the most important thing you can do while at your office desk.
Make sure the chair you use is sturdy and supports your back.
Do not Slouch.
Keep your shoulders level and back straight in order to prevent problems related to poor posture.
Incorrect use of a keyboard may cause carpal tunnel syndrome.
Keep your wrist level with the rest of your arm while you are typing or writing at your desk.
One more safety issue that is very often overlooked is the monitor of your computer. It may not seem like it could cause injury but studies have shown that staring at the screen of a computer for an extended amount of time can cause damage to the eyes.
Take Short Breaks
Keep the monitor facing away from any windows or lights to reduce the glare on the screen which causes you to strain more while using it.
Proper Ergonomics will help you reduce operator fatigue

Hog Wild Festival

The Hog Wild Festival is located in Mobile, AL and hosted by The United Cerebral Palsy. UCP of Mobile does a very good job of promoting this festival with upwards of 150 teams competing for over $10,000 in cash and prizes from all over the United States. UCP of Mobile has raised a lot of money over the past nine years and with 2011 being the tenth anniversary of the festival, over $30,000 was raised on the two day event March 11th and 12th. Pictured is Chef Randy Ledbetter, customer of Sirius and advocate of UCP, which is very near and dear to his heart. Sirius was a team sponsor this year and we feel blessed to be part of such an awesome charity event. We have it on good authority that the butts were rubbed just right this year.....The pork butts, people! ;-)

INGALLS SHIPBUILDING - WELCOME HOME, Pascagoula, MS
April 1 2011 www.turkishmaritime.com
Huntington Ingalls Industries, America's largest military shipbuilder, was previously a business sector of Northrop Grumman until effectively separating on March 31, 2011, in a spin off.
The Huntington Ingalls Industries name reflects the long-standing legacies of the two shipbuilding business divisions of the new entity: Newport News Shipbuilding and Ingalls Shipbuilding. Collis P. Huntington founded Newport News Shipbuilding in 1886, and Ingalls Shipbuilding was established in 1938 by the Ingalls Iron Works of Birmingham, Ala., a company founded by the Ingalls family.
As employees walked into work on April 1st, the (attached) sign welcomed them home!

Huntington Ingalls Industries Inc. landed its first contract as a stand-alone company Friday, just a day after it officially spun out from defense giant Northrop Grumman Corp. Huntington, Northrop's former shipbuilding arm, was awarded a $1.5 billion U.S. Navy contract to build the 10th San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock, which will be called the John P. Murtha (LPD 26). Construction is expected to start in May.

Spring Clean Your Resume
March 25, 2011 / Resume Bucket Let's face it, most of us don't write or update our resumes too often. Although it is a good idea to keep your resume up to date, you probably won't take a serious look at it until you are actually looking for a job. So our resume writing skills are typically a bit rusty. So if you are writing your first resume or wondering how to tailor your job experience to fit a new job application, who can you ask for help with your resume? That can depend on your situation, and there are a few sources of help you can turn to. · School or College Colleges usually have people on staff who can help graduating students create a resume for their job search, and this is also true in some cases of high schools. The best approach here is to gather all your information before you meet with the advisor. · Recruiting Agencies Recruiters expect you to have done at least some work on your resume before you approach them for representation on your job search. · Associations Do you belong to a professional association for people in your line or work or your industry? Whatever your profession or job, or whatever industry you work in, there's an association of people just like you. If you find one in your city, it's a good idea to join. · Career Coaches Depending on the type of work you do, you may be using the services of a career coach. If that's the case, helping with your resume is one of the services you should expect to receive from them. Typically, coaches don't actually do things for you, but they know how to ask the right questions so that you can figure out answers and do things properly for yourself. · Government Governments often have career offices to help job seekers. If there's one in your town, check out the services they provide. Often they have someone on staff to help people with their resumes. · Resume Writers Finally, you might consider having a professional resume writer do it for you. Yes, this will cost money, but it's an investment in your future and if it makes the difference between getting the interview and not, it's worthwhile. There are several essential steps in the search for a job, and the resume is the first of those steps. Remember, it's not the job of the resume to actually get you the job. The resume is designed to get you the interview, which is the next essential step towards the job. So give the resume the attention and work it deserves, and if you can't do it alone these ideas can help you decide who to ask for help with your resume.

A LITTLE "EGG" STRA INFORMATION....
|
As a contract employee, there may be many or occasional job assignments in different cities than where you currently reside. We are often asked by contractors what their paycheck will look like while working in that state after taxes, etc. We found a great website that is pretty close and would love to share it with you. Just enter in your information and it will give you an estimate of what your paycheck will look like working in that city! www.paycheckcity.com
