What's the price you are prepared to pay for your goals to finally come true?

I'll tell you what I'm NOT prepared to sacrifice: my health, my values, or my integrity.
Everything else is up for grabs. That means writing articles on weekends while I would rather be doing other things. That means going the extra mile for clients, even if it's after dinner time. That means not quitting even when I want to. (Sometimes the thought of quitting feels good enough in itself that I can keep going) That means trying things. And then again. And then again. Rinse, repeat.
It means taking risks - risks of disappointing myself, of appearing foolish, of being judged, of making mistakes, of losing money, of making money.
None of this is comfortable....and stretches you in ways that you did not know you could bend!

SIRIUS ADVICE, ANNOUNCEMENTS AND ADVERTISEMENTS

We asked our Sirius recruiters if they could share any tips of advice for our contractor/clients who are actively seeking employment in today's market.  Here is what our staff shared:

FROM THE RECRUITING DEPARTMENTQU

  • Always keep business cards handy and create a Linked In Profile!!  linkedin.com
  • Stay informed of various projects and contract announcements going on in your industry.
  • Keep in touch with former co-workers and supervisors for leads and references.

A FEW RESUME TIPS:

  • Employers prefer resumes to include employment dates on work history.
  • Always have an email address appropriate for professional use.
  • Keep track of who you have sent your resume and where you have networked with.

SALES AND SERVICING DEPARTMENT:

BE SURE TO CHECK OUT OUR SIRIUS WEARABLES FOR WINTER!  GREAT FLEECE PULL OVERS TO KEEP YOU WARM TRAVELING BACK AND FORTH TO YOUR ASSIGNMENTS! Visit our website to place your orders. www.companycasuals.com/sirius/start.jsp

PAYROLL & BENEFIT DEPARTMENT

We know that many Sirius clients and employees are concerned about the effects of the new healthcare plan and have requested information on how it will affect our industry and each of us individually.  The management at Sirius have been very proactive in reaching out to our resources to bring you this information.  There is still a lot of uncertainty about what changes will affect us at Sirius and for businesses in the staffing industry as a whole.  We will pursue information on the new healthcare plan and communicate with our employees and clients when we have facts and details.  We appreciate your commitment to the staffing industry and pledge to keep you well informed as we are educated.

New Employees:  The number of companies requiring employee background checks have grown tremendously over the past 2 years.  To expedite the hiring process we recommend that you always list the company you worked for AND the client company if you were on a contract assignment.  Verification of employment comes from the company that sent you your W2.  This will make the verification process move smoothly so you can start your new assignments quickly.

The holiday season is fast approaching and as everyone starts to focus their energy on parties, shopping and cooking mama's casseroles, we at Sirius wanted to take this opportunity to recognize our staff, employees and clients for their heartfelt physical and financial support that they have given this year to selfless causes.  We have been moved by the generous commitment that so many of you have made to special causes, charities and benefits this year and our Sirius Family wanted to say "Thanks for Giving" .  We wish you and your families a wonderful Thanksgiving season!
