Greetings!
What a whirlwind it's been since our last update, and a busy year in general!
In 2011, TCLG launched expansions in its scope of services, geographic locations of clients and as a result, team members. Our staff is serving more clients than ever in the areas of campaign finance and election law, government and public relations, and Davis-Bacon compliance consulting services.
We have experienced some great moments -- too many to recount completely -- this year. It was an honor to have the opportunities to meet with three of our clients' top leaders this year, including United Association General President William Hite, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers General President Ed Hill, and Ironworkers General President Walter Wise.
Another highlight was to be involved in hosting US Department of Labor Secretary Hilda Solis in Phoenix this summer.
Last but not least, our clients enjoyed a "sweep" by their endorsed candidates in this year's elections in some of the most exciting city council races Arizona has seen in some time. TCLG is proud to have been a part of these victories and looks forward to working with Phoenix Mayor-Elect Greg Stanton and newly elected Tucson Mayor Jonathan Rothschild.

We look forward to ramping up our activities even more next year, and wish you happy holidays and all the best in 2012!
Happy holidays,

Arizona Pipe Trades' support contributes to 10 campaign wins Congratulations to victorious client Arizona Pipe Trades, which TCLG worked with to sweep 10 labor-friendly leaders into office! Tucson Mayor Jonathan Rothschild

In Tucson, TCLG helped Local 469 support newly elected Mayor Jonathan Rothschild, along with councilmembers Regina Romero and Paul Cunningham. TCLG also helped guide Local 469's successful campaign activities in Surprise, including those supporting Mayor-Elect Sharon Wolcotand councilmen Richard Alton and John Williams.
Congratulations to Arizona Pipe Trades volunteers, who canvassed neighborhoods and made phone calls in support of the candidates. All told, TCLG worked with our client's volunteers to reach 73,000 voters through phone calls, door knocking and mailers.

TCLG welcomes a former assistant attorney general to the team and expands legal services
TCLG's newest team member, Jim Barton, came to the firm after serving as an Arizona assistant attorney general. Jim has represented the Arizona Secretary of State's office in high-profile legal matters and advised state agencies including the Independent Redistricting Commission.
Jim's presence will prove valuable as TCLG expands its legal practice to address areas including campaign finance, elections and construction law. TCLG will also now serve municipal needs by offering services such as training on open meeting laws. Jim's background in campaign and election law, along with his experience navigating the complexities of ballot measures, will be vital to TCLG's clients who actively support specific initiatives or candidates. Jim grew up in Indiana and studied physics and philosophy at Northwestern University before entering the Navy, in which he served as a submarine warfare officer. He's also worked at nuclear power plants in both New York and New Jersey. Ultimately, he entered law school at Arizona State University. In his spare time, Jim enjoys catching up on the classics. He's working through a list of history's most significant political and philosophical books, which includes works by Socrates and Alexis de Tocqueville. Jim enjoys spending time with his two children, James, 17, Kate, 14, and his wife, Pat. He also leads the youth program at Chalice Christian Church. "Between that and raising two kids - that pretty much fills out the docket," said Jim. |
