Five Rings Fitness's Eric Jetton Makes PR at Olympic Lifting Competition - GREAT JOB!

On June 5th, Eric Jetton represented Five Rings Fitness at the University of Oregon Weightlifting Classic and State Championship. This was Eric's second weightlifting competition and he came ready to rock in the 69kg weight division!

Jett_oly_1Eric opened the competition with a personal record snatch of 67.5kg (148 lbs), which he made easily. His second snatch was a very strong 72.5kg (159 lbs). For his third attempt, he went for 77.5kg (170 lbs) and did a great pull on the bar, but missed it by a small margin. A good benchmark for lifters is to be able to snatch your own body weight, which Eric accomplished in his first lift. Not many others at the Classic were able to follow suit.

In the clean & jerk, Eric opened with 97.5kg (214 lbs), which was his best in competition. He made it easily and opted for 102.5kg (225 lbs) for his second attempt. He did a great job of maintaining discipline on the lift as he jerked the bar straight over his head. On his third attempt, Eric tried 107.5kg (236 lbs). He made a gutsy attempt, but rocked back with the weight in the bottom of the clean  wasn't able to complete the front squat while being off balance.jett_oly_3

The day was a complete success as Eric went 4 for 6 and became Oregon State Champion with a total of 175kg. An amazing accomplishment for someone with less than a year of Olympic Lifting training. Eric is planning to compete again on Sept 18th and to do bigger and better things at the next competition.

Awesome lifting Eric!
