March 30-April 15: Highlands Little Theatre presents Nunsense
Five Little Sisters of Hoboken discover their cook accidentally killed off the other residents of the convent. Running out money for the burials, with four nuns on ice, they decide to stage a variety show to raise the funds. Participating in the project are , a former circus performer who can not resist the spotlight; her competitive but dignified rival, second-in-command, a streetwise nun from Brooklyn, a novice who is determined to be the world's first ballerina nun, and wacky, childlike Sister Mary Amnesia, who lost her memory when a crucifix fell on her head. : Destination Downtown Walk presents Sidewalk Sounds of Sebring
Held the second Friday of each month, Sebring's Downtown will come alive with the unique and enjoyable monthly Destination Downtown Walk.  Celebrate each month with shopping, dining and strolling around the Downtown area! Nearly 20 participating galleries and stores will feature one-of-a-kind art and gifts available for purchase as well as entertainment, gallery exhibits, and special drawings from 5-8 p.m. Visit www.DestinationDowntownSebring.com.

April 14: Saturday Night Cruise
Held the second Saturday of each month from 5-8 p.m., cruisers come from near and far to Sebring's Downtown Circle to see classic cars, listen to live entertainment and enjoy delicious food.  Visit www.SebringCruise.com

April 21: Pilates in the Park
Join us in Downtown Sebring's Circle Park for a FREE pilates class at 10:00 AM.  These classes are great for any workout level.  Bring a mat or towel for 50-minutes of pilates fun.  Sponsored by Gold's Gym, which will give away one 1-month membership and week-long memberships to everyone who attends.

April 21: Downtown Community Garage Sale

April 24: "What's Up Downtown?" Meeting

The Sebring Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) will host its next monthly "What's Up Downtown?" meeting on Tuesday, April 24 at 5:30 PM at The Flower Box, which is located at 233 N. Ridgewood Avenue.  These monthly "What's Up Downtown?" meetings are open to the public.  Anyone who has an interest in Downtown Sebring is encouraged to attend.

More Merchants=More Savings For Downtown Sebring Shoppers

Seven new merchants have signed on to participate in the successful Buy Downtown Sebring program that was started on Dec. 1, 2010.  The Sebring Community Redevelopment Agency's (CRA) consumer incentive program is designed to spur economic activity in Downtown Sebring and help consumers save money while shopping, dining and making everyday purchases.

By simply connecting the Downtown Sebring businesses with the buying power of the local community, this multi-year program keeps more dollars and jobs in the local community.   
Thirty-five participating Downtown Sebring merchants, which are listed at www.BuyDowntownSebring.com, are offering exclusive discounts and instant savings to all consumers who have a Buy Downtown Sebring card.  The wallet-sized cards are free and can be picked up  at participating merchants, the CRA office (368 S. Commerce Avenue), the Greater Sebring Chamber of Commerce offices (227 US Highway 27 North or 309 E. Circle Park), the Highlands County CVB (501 S. Commerce Avenue) or print one online at www.BuyDowntownSebring.com. 

 

Shoppers simply present their Buy Downtown Sebring card to the merchant when making their purchase to benefit from the offer.   With 35 participating merchants, shoppers can save money on everything from museum admission, pet items, education and art supplies, flowers, invitations, china, giftware, clothing, art, pottery, furniture, dining, shoes, books and gardening items. CRA Names Hinote Acting Chief

On April 9, the Sebring Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) board unanimously named Robin Hinote as acting executive director until a new director is selected by the search committee and approved by the CRA board.  Hinote has been with the CRA for 10 years as Executive Assistant and oversees the agency's projects and its signature events, the Roaring Twenties Arts & Crafts Festival.  Prior to her tenure with the CRA, she worked in the City's Utility Department for two years.

Here's What You Missed!


Circle of Speed 
circle of speed Downtown Sebring had a "roaring" good time on March 1 as the "Circle of Speed" returned to the Circle Park.  Sebring kicked off "Race Month," complete with beer, brats, live music and (of course) race cars!  Attendees met drivers from the Sportscar Vintage Racing Association, listened to live music by The Shony Tannon Group and enjoyed unlimited Beer and Bratz. This event was sponsored by: Sebring Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA), Greater Sebring Chamber of Commerce, Plan B Promotions, Heartland Riders Association, News-Sun, Budweiser, Book Pest Control and Creative Printing.

Taste of the Race 
Downtown Sebring was the place to be on taste of the race March 15 as the "Taste of the Race" returned to the Circle Park.  Sebring welcomed "Race Week," with more than 20 food vendors, free live music and (of course) race cars!  Within the lovely downtown setting, attendees browsed stores, enjoyed the Circle's charm and saw vintage race cars up close.  This event was sponsored by: Sebring Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA), Greater Sebring Chamber of Commerce, Plan B Promotions, Heartland Riders Association, News-Sun and Creative Printing.
