Broadway Here We Come!

Highlands Little Theater presents "Broadway Here We Come," showcasing the talents of local performers ages 8-18.  This variety show includes skits, song and dance numbers from "Annie," "Oliver," "13 the Musical" and many more!  Tickets: $10 for adults & kids 12+; $5 children.  Concessions available.  For more details, contact HLT at www.HighlandsLittleTheater.org or (863) 382-2525.

Primal Connection Community Drum Circle

Everyone is welcome to attend the community drum circle event from 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. at the Sebring Civic Center (355 W. Center Ave.) overlooking Lake Jackson.  No experience necessary. Play along, dance or just enjoy the music.  Some percussion instruments available for public use.  For details, contact fred@primalconnection.org

Saturday Night Cruise

What's Up Downtown Meeting

Join us every last Tuesday of the month at 5:30 p.m., these informational meetings are a way to share news and happenings with anyone interested in Downtown Sebring.  This month we will meet at the Habitat for Humanity Store.

Circle of Speed

Join us from 3:00-7:00 PM as the Greater Sebring Chamber of Commerce presents the 'Circle of Speed,' which will include race cars, food and music on the Circle.  For details, call (863) 385-8448.

Sebring Centennial Committee

As Sebring's 2012 Centennial draws closer, the Committee convenes the first Thursday of each month at 4:00 PM at the Sebring Civic Center in Downtown Sebring.  Anyone interested the Centennial is welcome to attend.

Gallery & Downtown Walk

Held the second Friday of each month, Sebring's Downtown comes alive with the monthly Gallery and Downtown Walk.  Celebrate by shopping, dining and strolling the Downtown area! Nearly 20 participating galleries and stores feature art and gifts, as well as art openings, gallery exhibits, and special drawings from 5-8 p.m. Visit www.GalleryWalkSebring.com

What's Up Downtown?

The Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) will habitathost its next "What's Up Downtown?" meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 22 at 5:30 PM at the Habitat for Humanity Store (137 S. Commerce Ave).  Highlands Independent Bank will present information on Merchant Services Fraud Prevention.  In addition, the meeting will provide updates on the CRA's new business incentive programs, Streetscape project, Downtown Sebring events, and CRA marketing initiatives.

Downtown Sebring Business Opportunity Seminar A Success    

The Business Opportunity Seminar was held on Feb. 1 man giving moneywith nearly 40 people in attendance, representing both potential business owners and existing business owners.  Presentations were given on: Marketing, the CRA and its Business Incentive Programs, Business Start Up Factors 101, and Keys to Business Survival and Sustainability.  Feedback from attendees has been positive.

Program Adds New Business

buy downtown cardThe Sebring Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA)'s Buy Downtown Sebring continues to grow with nearly 140 registered cards and one new business this month.  The program welcomes its newest merchant, the Highlands Academy (www.HighlandsAcademy.net), a child care facility located at 449 Park Street.  They are offering $25 off first week's tuition and no registration fees for new enrollments only.  For information about Buy Downtown Sebring and how you can start saving money, visit www.BuyDowntownSebring.com.

Pilates in the Park

The Pilates in the Park event was a success with 15 people in attendance.  In addition, the News-Sun came to take photos.  Thank you to Gold's Gym for a great partnership. Everyone enjoyed the class and we've had several inquiries about hosting another one.  Stay tuned!

 

Black History Month Exhibit at MOTA

Highlands Museum of the Arts (MOTA), located in motaDowntown Sebring on Lake Jackson, is celebrating Black History Month with a special exhibition, including artwork by Owen Jolly. On Feb. 4 MOTA had a wonderful reception to launch the exhibit, which is open and free until the end of February.  


Roaring Twenties Arts & Crafts Festival
 

roaringOn Feb. 12, more than 100 craft, art and food vendors convened around Sebring's historic downtown Circle to celebrate Sebring's 1920's heritage at the Roaring Twenties Arts & Crafts Festival. Festival attendees browsed booths displaying photography, sculptures, paintings, wood crafts, homemade soaps, leather, crafts, clothing, iron crafts, stained glass, jewelry and plants.
