Downtown Sebring Benefits From Officer Presence
The CRA has sponsored a police officer for Downtown Sebring.  Officer Rick Little began patrolling the CRA district on March 15, and it has already made a difference.  Officer Little has been working to ensure vehicles yield for pedestrians in the cross walks, which has been a problem in the past.
"I think the downtown merchants and the downtown pedestrians appreciate his presence," said CRA Chairman Gene Brenner.
Officer Little also spends time talking with downtown visitors and businesses to ensure their needs and concerns are addressed.  He is an active participant in the "What's Up Downtown?" meetings, where he gives a monthly update to the group.  Officer Little can be reached at (863) 381-0290.

Downtown Streetscape Project Set to Begin
The Downtown Streetscape project will begin soon.  Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) permits will be issued by July 1st and work will commence right after they are received.  The project is expected to be completed by September.  For more details and answers to any questions, please plan to attend the June 29 "What's Up Downtown?" meeting at Cusworth Pub at 5:30 p.m.

Downtown Re-surfacing Project Begins
Work started June 10 on a $900,000 resurfacing project on State Road 17 from Lakeview Drive and Kenilworth Boulevard in downtown Sebring to Ridgewood Drive and Helena Avenue.
The initial work involves installing new traffic signal mast arms at Helena Avenue, according Lauren Hatchell, Florida Department of Transportation public information officer.
The contractor, Better Roads Inc., has a 125-day schedule for the work, which includes milling and resurfacing the road and upgrading sidewalk ramps to meet ADA standards.
Night-time paving operations will probably begin in mid July, she said. Tentatively the contractor submitted for approval to pave from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Sunday through Thursday.
An FDOT flier circulated to residents noted there will be daytime lane closures with minimal delays.
