FEATURED PET

COCONUT - female tortoiseshell

Coconut
Coconut has been at the shelter for six months and is ready for a family to love her. She gets along very well with other cats or she would be happy being the only cat in the family. She will sit on your lap for quite a while happily purring and she loves the top of her head scratched.

Through our spay/neuter clinic work in 2010 we formed a relationship with an organization in Tijuana, Mexico called "Give Some Life". The two veterinarians who founded this organization donated their time and travel and came down several times throughout the year in 2010.

    Ginny Bolla

LCHS Cat Coordinator

When Ginny returns to Cabo from her Connecticut home each season for eight months, she acts as the cat coordinator at our Animal Center. She moved to Cabo in 2001 after retiring from international headquarters of Save the Children in Westport, Conn. where she worked for seventeen years. She learned about LCHS at the Cabo Tomatoes luncheons.

She started volunteering with LCHS by collecting the donation boxes from local businesses. "That's the way I found my way around  Cabo." She also helped out at the Pedregal Farmers Market. "At first I was hesitant to help out at the Center. I started walking shelter dogs at the marina each week. We picked up and returned the dogs from the shelter. "I'm really a cat person, so I would peek in at the cats."

GinnyGinny now works with the cats in the three cat areas: Casa 1--for healthy kittens; Casa 2--for healthy adults; Quarantine--for new cats to the shelter and or ones with an illness. She helps with cleaning cages, scooping litter and assisting at the Spay/Neuter clinics. "I learned how to give shots, shave bellies for surgery, sterilize instruments and take care of the animals during their recovery following surgery,"

I'm usually at the Center one or two times a week. Tracy Bish,
Bonnie Perelli, Connie Martinez and I work as a team taking care
of our Center's sweet cats and are a part of the Spay/Neuter team."

"When visitors come to Cabo for a visit, I can usually convince them to transport a cat back to Connecticut to the "no kill" shelter. One friend just transported her fourth cat!"

Sprague concert

Peter Sprague Concert

The Los Cabos Humane Society was privileged to be the beneficiary of a very special concert held at Flora Farm on April, 6. A VIP concert, limited to only 30 people, was held on the beautiful tri-level herb garden where jazz master Peter Sprague and a trio of musicians wowed the guests with his amazing jazz sounds. Delicious Flora Field Kitchen appetizers and drinks were served. The night was absolutely magical!!

While the music was amazing, seeing LCHS's five minute documentary reminded us all of why we support this organization. Thanks to the generous support of Donna and Larry Horner, long time supporters of Humane Society efforts in San Jose del Cabo, underwrote this event. Over $9000 USD was raised toward our mobile clinic spay/neuter campaign. Our thanks go out to the Horners along with Janet Jensen, Gloria Greene, Amy Abbot, Marie Boehme and Yahwe Garcia for their generous donations of time and materials.

dog walker trot

The dogs at the LCHS Center still need to be walked two times daily and we count on volunteers to help us with this. We need a three-person team for a morning walk and afternoon walk. If there are more

than three volunteers--even better! That means better walks for the dogs, and more time they can be outside their kennels. Plus, there may be extra time for bathing and playing with the cats too.

The trails are beautiful and you don't even have to pick up the poop, as the staff does this weekly. Just come out and enjoy the dogs and give them the exercise they need and deserve.

We need morning teams for the daily walk from 8:30-10:30 am;  and afternoon teams from 5:30-7:30 pm.

If you would like to join a walker's team, contact Marci at mincsl@hotmail.com or volunteer@loscaboshumanesociety.com.

Check out the video about volunteer dog walking on our website VOLUNTEER PAGE.

There is no governmental agency to address the problem of homeless domestic animals

living on the streets of Cabo San Lucas.  The Humane Society of Cabo San Lucas

is operating as the only form of animal protection and control.

The LOS CABOS HUMANE SOCIETY is dedicated to providing the community with animal control services and to create an environment free of homeless dogs and cats. We promote the humane treatment of domestic animals through education, pet population control, rescue and adoption.

The Humane Society de Cabo San Lucas, A. C. is operating as a legal non-profit civil

association in Mexico and as the Humane Society de Cabo San Lucas, Inc., a non-profit
