Happy New Year!

Thanks to your generosity in 2010 we performed 3100 surgeries (580 more than was budgeted!), 352 total adoptions, educated over 1500 local school children and made several much needed improvements to the Center.

We are confident that 2011 will prove to be our best year yet: we have a very ambitious goal of sterilizing 6000 animals in the Los Cabos area and we will be setting up a "mobile clinic" in

San Jose neighborhoods working in conjunction with Servicios Publicos (department that cleans the city).

Our operating budget in 2010 was $21,500 USD per month. For 2011 we've budgeted 23,200 per month to help us reach this year's goals.

Dr. Rebeca Serrano, who has helped us at our Spay/Neuter clinics for the last two years, has moved down from Tijuana to be in charge of LCHS's Spay/Neuter program.  We will continue holding weekly clinics at the Center in Cabo San Lucas.

None of our achievements would be possible without those of you who donate, volunteer and attend our fundraisers. We thank you for your continued support.

Thanks to our hardworking all-volunteer Board of Directors. They work year-round to improve the lives of the animals of Los Cabos. Much thanks to outgoing board member Wendy Rall and welcome to Varnita Hewitt who is beginning her 3-year term.

MILAGRO - 3-5 year old female mix

My Milagroname means "Miracle" because that is what I am.  When I arrived at the LCHS Center in April of last year, I was on death's door. I was severely malnourished and skeletal and I had TVT, a form of cancer that was eating me from the inside out.  The doctors and staff at the Center put a lot of faith in the fact that I could get better.  It took nine full months of chemotherapy and care--but I am a 100% beautiful Cabo dog now!  I have a wonderful personality and I love to play. I would be a great addition to your active family.  Come and take me for a walk so we can become friends.

 PANCHO

PanchoI'm a white adult male who just loves everyone and I'm the first one to greet visitors to the cattery and snuggle up to them. If you are looking for a sweet, lovable, cuddly friend - I'm your gato!  When we fall in love you can take me home!

Dear Kitty....

Q:  I'm a lovely, young feline that my owner says I must wait until after I have a litter of kittens to be spayed. Is this true, or just an old "cats" tale?

A:  A dog or cat can be spay/neutered as early as 2 months of age, but for his/her good health, we recommend that the vaccination and deworming calendar is complete (around 4 months of age). We have performed surgeries on animals up to 12 years of age, but it depends on the animal's overall health.

Q: Does my owner need to make an appointment?

A: Yes, it's best that they call for an appointment because we perform and average of 25 surgeries a day. Call our Center Manager Evaristo at (624)129-8346 for an appointment. Click here for more information

Q:  How much does it cost?

A:  The service is available to everyone and is free of charge to low-income families. We welcome donations.

Q:  My owner doesn't own a car--how can I get there?

A:  We now have a mobile clinic in San Jose that stays at one location for 2-3 days each week. The shelter does surgeries nearly every day. Both locations require an appointment.

There is no governmental agency to address the problem of homeless domestic animals

living on the streets of Cabo San Lucas.  The Humane Society of Cabo San Lucas

is operating as the only form of animal protection and control.

The LOS CABOS HUMANE SOCIETY is dedicated to providing the community with animal control services and to create an environment free of homeless dogs and cats. We promote the humane treatment of domestic animals through education, pet population control, rescue and adoption.

The Humane Society de Cabo San Lucas, A. C. is operating as a legal non-profit civil

association in Mexico and as the Humane Society de Cabo San Lucas, Inc., a non-profit

U.S. corporation with tax exempt status under section 501 (C) (3)
