SubSuggestions Newsletter Header
Hello ,

It is likely that during the school day you will find time when there won't be any students in the classroom. It is tempting to use this time for your own personal benefit, but if you would like to truly stand out as a substitute teacher consider offering assistance to the office staff.

During the lulls in the day, I'd encourage you to walk down to the main office and let them know you have a few minutes to which you could help wherever needed. This action will not only astound the school secretary, it will also allow some individual time with the school secretary. That way s/he may get to know you and may therefore start requesting you to come substitute teach at that school more often.

Many of you are probably already doing this, if so, please share your experiences! How have you been helpful during preparation periods? What services do you find that the schools need? Please post your insights at the blog so other substitute teachers can benefit.

Best Wishes,

They might not need me, but they might.

I'll keep my head just in sight.

A smile as small as mine might be,

Precisely their necessity.
