Greetings! |
While we hope that active concern for the safety and well-being of every child remains with all of us throughout every month, April marks a special recognition opportunity.
In New York State, Governor Andrew M. Cuomo has proclaimed April as Child Abuse Prevention Month. Efforts to raise awareness about keeping children safe can be found across the state.
At the national level, The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) work to stop maltreatment, including abuse and neglect, before it initially occurs.
Remember -- Healthy relationships act as a buffer against adverse childhood experiences. They are necessary to ensure the long-term physical and emotional well-being of children. Building safe, stable, and nurturing relationships between parents, other caregivers, and children is key to the prevention of child maltreatment.
