Greetings!

The ENGAGE Team is pleased to join the New York State Early Childhood Advisory Council (ECAC) in Celebrating the Week of the Young Child from April 10th-16th. And, we invite you onboard! The purpose of this designation is to focus public attention on the needs of young children and their families and to recognize the value of early childhood programs and services across our great state.

Celebrating the Week of the Young Child

New York's ECAC, created in 2009, was formed to provide a dynamic and overarching framework stretching across existing agencies and programs to foster coordinated, cross-systems efforts to better serve New York's Toddlerfamilies, starting in pregnancy. The ECAC, comprised of a wide range of organizations and public and private agencies, works towards a common goal -- a viable pathway for every child to succeed.

To that end, the ECAC has identified three immediate priorities that will have maximum impact on young children, while delivering a significant return on the investment of public dollars. These are:

  • Welcoming New York's Babies:  Starting with identification of needs for families during pregnancy and ensuring healthy outcomes for babies. Check out Winning Beginnings at:

    www.winningbeginningny.org.

  • Implementing QUALITYstarsNY:  Designing a rating and improvement system of quality care for all children regardless of setting. Visit http://QUALITYstarsNY.org to learn more.

  • Ensuring a Continuum of High-Quality Learning
    (Prenatal to Age 8):
Creating a path for a statewide system of quality early learning programs. We invite you to learn more about the ECAC, at: www.ccf.state.ny.us/Initiatives/ECACHome.htm.

Together, let's Celebrate! the Young Child

Thank you for your continued interest in ENGAGE.
