Greetings!
In an effort to keep you informed of our cross-systems efforts, the 2010 Children's Plan Update has been recently posted to the ENGAGE/ Children's Plan website.
Governor Announces Medicaid Website
Seeking Suggestions from the Public and Stakeholders to Reform the Medicaid System and Save Taxpayers Money

Road Sign Pointing to Future
The website: http://governor.ny.gov/medicaidredesign, includes electronic forms for Medicaid stakeholders and the public to suggest reforms to the system. The website will be an integral component to the reform process, which includes the Medicaid Redesign Team, created last week through Executive Order by Governor Andrew M. Cuomo. The website will also include listings of the Team's public hearings and prepared reports.
January is National Mentoring Month
Help Them Get There: Be a Mentor

This year is the 10th anniversary of National Mentoring Month. For seven years, the Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) has been in the forefront of supporting safe and effective mentoring.

The theme for National Mentoring Month 2011 is "Help Them Get There: Be a Mentor". There are mentoring partnerships in New York City, the Capital Region, Onondaga, and Monroe CountTree in Palm of Handies. OCFS is working with members of the legislature to develop a statewide Mentoring Advisory Council who will provide input and guidance to their efforts to support mentoring in New York State. The Capital Region Mentoring Partnership held recruitment efforts at four area malls on January 8, 2011. Big Brothers/Big Sisters affiliates in NYS have received a substantial grant to provide mentoring for children of incarcerated parents and had a wonderful kick-off in the Capital Region in October. Other agencies, programs, organizations and partnerships are planning to host activities during the month.

We hope that you will support national and local efforts to provide more quality, effective and safe mentoring programs for children, youth and families. Mentoring Works!
