The Application Deadline for this Summer's GoldMine Youth Leadership School is Fast Approaching -April 20

I am gifting you with this very easy opportunity to make an impact in the lives of the youth in your congregation.  Here's what you need to do:

Think of a youth whom you feel has leadership potential.

Tell that youth that you think they will make a great leader.

Give them the information about GoldMine.

Encourage them to apply now.

Let them know that you will recommend them and sign their application.

The overwhelming majority of GoldMine
participants come to GoldMine by way of being "seen" by a leader in their congregation.  The simple act of noticing our youth can make all the difference,

GA2012            JUNE 22-24

Northeastern Justice General Assembly

A call for those of us unable or choosing not to go to Phoenix, Arizona in June 2012 for the Justice General Assembly

How do the lives of UUs in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont intersect with immigrants moving through, and working or living here?

Where are we building partnerships and where are there more possibilities? How does this work affect us, and our communities? How might it?

What might a faithful UU response be to the realities of life for immigrants in our region? What might a multigenerational response look like?

UU congregations in our District already engage these questions. Might we live our vision more vibrantly and joyfully as we tell the stories? We can learn from each other, understand what might increase our impact for justice, and deepen our work together.

June 22-24 events in the Northeast are not yet scheduled. District Staff invite you to help us determine that.

NEXT STEPS

1. Email Karen Brammer with:

a. your interest in participating locally or regionally
b. descriptions or links to what your congregation is doing, and/or to stories of immigrant realities you are aware of

2. Reserve some time on the weekend of

June 22-24 to engage this work in some way with fellow UUs of all ages and perhaps immigrant rights groups in your area. More information will follow as locations and events become clear

3. Consider learning more from Cooking Together; Recipies for Immigration Justice Work a UU web resource of congregations sharing stories and information.
