Happy New Year!

from "A Well-Seasoned Kitchen"

Greetings!

The New Year is upon us and not a moment too soon! I think that most of us can say we're looking forward to a fresh start in 2010. If you plan to kick off the year with a homecooked meal that will put a smile on the faces of your friends and family, think of adding a new set of recipes to your kitchen repertoire. I'm happy to share some of my favorites from "A Well-Seasoned Kitchen."

Here's wishing you much joy and prosperity in the New Year!

Cheers!

Make it an easy and delicious New Year's Eve!

WSKRecipesWhen my mother Sally and I set out to create "A Well-Seasoned Kitchen," we included recipes that match our style of cooking - uncomplicated dishes that are at once scrumptious and beautiful.

We were also sure to feature options to make the dishes ahead so you can spend less time in the kitchen and more time with loved ones. This New Year's Eve menu does just that. Download the menu or follow the links on the individual recipes below.

Enjoy!

 Start with scrumptious appetizers:
Cheddar Chutney Tarts (p. 15) and Hearts of Palm Dip

Serve a main course that's festive & satisfying:
Pork Tenderloin Stuffed with Spinach and Cheese (p. 128)
Roasted Tomatoes
Light Green Salad
Assorted Breads
Top off the night with an adult dessert:
Break out the noisemakers and sing your
best rendition of Auld Lang Syne!
Welcome 2010!
A cookbook that celebrates family and food

"A Well-Seasoned Kitchen" is a recipe treasury for all cooks who cherish creating delicious meals to nourish relationships with family and friends. The cookbook was written by Lee Clayton Roper and her mother Sally. The Claytons have long been known for effortless style and smart sensibility when it comes to home cooking and entertaining. So, when Sally began to suffer from the effects of osteoporosis and memory loss, it was natural for Lee to to engage her mother through memories of their shared times in the kitchen. The result of their effort is "A Well-Seasoned Kitchen," a cookbook of classic recipes for today's contemporary cook.

The hardcover cookbook includes 186 recipes, planning menus and helpful tips on 272 pages that feature delicious photos of some of Sally and Lee's favorite dishes. Renowned food photographer Laurie Smith, whose pictures have appeared in Saveur, Food & Wine and many other esteemed publications, shot the photos for "A Well-Seasoned Kitchen."
