And another thing...
As I sit here trying to make this newsletter interesting and exciting for you and your child, so that you will continue to explore your faith.  I am suffering from a pulled muscle or something and have spent much of the last 36 hours on my back on the floor.  Not the most comfortbale or productive positions, but it has given me time to think and to pray.  I'm not praying to heal (well, maybe a little) but praying that all of you will grow closer to Him with (and without) my help.  It is so important in this crazy world, to have a relationship with God.  How is yours?

The Pentateuch

Bible"Penta" meaning "five" and "teuch" meaning "collection" is the name of the collection of the first five books of the Bible.  This was the topic of discussion this past weekend at EDGE.  In those first five books, are the stories that many of us are familiar with including the sotry of Adam and Eve, Nah's Ark, Moses and more!  But did you know there are actually two stories of Creation in there?  Or those stories span hundreds of years??? They are probably the most familiar stories of the Old Testament and we took some time to show the kids how to find them, how to interpret the stories and how they fall on a time line.  I hope this helped them put those stories in perspective better.

BibleREPORTING ABSENCES:  If your child is going to be absent from EDGE, please your child's team leader directly, NOT the EDGE office.  Messages left on the EDGE office phone or inbox are not always retrieved until the next day.  Team Leader contact information was given out at an earlier EDGE night.  If you do not have your team leaders contact information, let us know and we'll get it to you!
Movie Reviews

BibleSeen any good movies lately? Are you concerned about what is IN those movies your kids want to see?  There are many good movie review websites, but the one published by the United States Catholic Conference of Bishops (USCCB) has a site that gives you a great description of the movie including acknowledgement of any profanity and inappropraite material.  It's a great way to know, before you go, just what you (and your chidlren) will be seeing.

Bible
I read an article the other day and came across this quote.  "To teach your child to only be a Catholic in Catholic spaces means in a way that you're teaching them a religious identity that is relevant to only a very small part of their lives, because the vast majority of their lives in the 21st century are going to be lived in interaction with others."

Ask yourself...do people know you are Catholic by your actions?  If not...why not????
