This week we will be talking about EDGE service projects.  It's an important part of our faith, to serve others, and although it is not required, it is highly recommended that all EDGIES participate in service projects.  Look for more information this Sunday.

Bible
Join us this week as we start looking at the first part of the Bible called the Old Testament or Hebrew Scriptures.  Many of you already know many of these stories like Adam and Eve, Noah and the Ark, and Abraham. but we'll look into it more thoroughly beginning this weekend.  Come to EDGE on Sunday and recite the first five books of the Bible (in order) to Mrs. Carter and win a sweet prize!  You know I like Bib Bibles by watching this video.

Bible Want to buy a Bible and are not sure what kind to get?  There are many different versions/styles/and types.  Some are better for youth, some are better for families.  Some are more expensive, some are less.  Come check out the different types this weekend at EDGE.
BibleWe had a "Smokin' Good Time"

Thanks to everyone who came out for the EDGE bonfire on Sunday night.  It was a great night, with perfect weather and an awesome array of attendees including ten mice, lots of wood bugs, and one baby snake!  Pictures are on the EDGE Website for you to check out!

Praying at School?
Bible
Did you know that it is LEGAL to pray at school?  Many people think this is not true, but it is!  Our First Amendment grants us the ability to freedom of speech and although many argue that it violates a division of church and state, we need to know our rights so we can practice our faith in public - even at our schools.  For information about your rights, go to the Department of Education website.

Each year, the youth groups from the churches in the Saline area gather at the SHS and SMS flag pole to pray before school.  The event is called "See You At The Pole".  It was held on Wednesday, September 23rd.  Last year, our EDGE youth group asked that we continue this event on a monthly basis - which we did.  It was awesome!  Over 20 kids showed up every month and prayed together before school.

Some of the MS staff were so impressed, that we initiated a chapter of the national organization, Fellowship of Christian Athletes.  This organization brings Christian students (you don't need to be an athlete to join) together to pray, build fellowship, and spread the Good News to others.  Eighth grade math teacher, David Reeves has agreed to once-again head up this group if there is interest.  EDGIES/Parents - please take this opportunity to help our faith grow in Saline Middle School and to allow our middle school youth to PRACTICE their faith EVERY DAY- the benefits are heavenly!  Contact Mr. Reeves for more information or to help get the program going again at SMS.  (Note:  There IS a FCA chapter at SHS that is well attended!)
