Personal Message

Things are going very well at EDGE in part to the wonderful students and parents we have this year! Thank you all for your continued support. I am hoping to get the newsletter out on Mondays so you have time to read it during the week. But look for any "quick reminders" that may come out on Friday, if necessary. God bless you all! Have a wonderful week.

We Love the Bible!
Last night we had a quick introduction to the Bible. The kids learned how many books are in there, how to find things, about the different versions, and a little bit about the history and origins of the greatest book in the world! They played a game to try to guess if a story was from a Hollywood movie or a story from the Bible. Many of them guessed incorrectly which just shows you that the Bible contains some pretty interesting stories in it, some better than a Hollywood Epics! We didn't get a chance to view one of my favorite Bible videos, but will the next time we meet. Check out how "I Like Big Bibles".

EDGE Fun Night!
Join us THIS Sunday, after the Harvest Dinner and the 5:30 PM Mass, for an EDGE fun night and bonfire in the backyard of the parish grounds. Meet at the back of the parking lot (look for the EDGE banner) for snacks and the start of the lit path to our bonfire. Remember to dress warmly and wear closed-toed shoes! Empty (and clean) 2-liter bottles are needed to make our luminaries. Please drop them off at the parish office by Friday morning! We'll use them to light our path down to the bonfire pit.

Need a Bible?
Many of you have been asking about getting your very OWN Catholic Bibles and I have some great suggestions for ones to buy. For youth, I would recommend a Catholic Youth Bible. There are a couple of them out there ranging in price from $12 to $40. I have ordered a couple of samples of different ones, if you would like to look at them before you purchase one. II also have some versions that I really like and think are great to have around the house for the whole family. We'll have them available at the next EDGE session on Sunday, October 25th. Our confirmation students will all receive a Bible in 9th grade, so you may want to keep that in mind. Mrs. Greca has said that there are a few older copies of the New American Bible, that they have available. If you would like a copy, please let me know. Get a Bible, read it regularly, and enjoy! It's a history book, a song book, a page-turning thriller, and a devotional guide. It is FULL of great information and everyone should have at LEAST one!

Like to Read?
Parents, we have started a book club and are reading an AWESOME book (just started). It's called "The Accidental Pope" and it's by Raymond Flynn. It's a fun, page-turning story about the election of a widowed father of four to the office of the Pope. It is truly fictional, and a bit far-fetched, but it is entertaining and not degrading of our Catholic faith like some of Dale Brown books can be. It will definitely inspire some interesting discussions about how our Popes are elected and the history of the Papacy, which I am studying right now at Siena Heights University. The book can be ordered from Amazon and the book club meets on Tuesdays from 1:00-2:30 pm in the parish library. Please join us!
