NEWSLETTER EDITOR NEEDED.
How about using your creative side and try your hand at being the council newsletter editor.
A regularly scheduled newsletter is important to our council.  It keeps the membership feeling informed and encourages involvement in the various activities we have.  A newsletter also helps to recognize those members who have given of their talents so generously.

What is involved ?   Our newsletter is created and edited by logging into a website and then editing a template we have used in the past.
Is a computer and web access required?   Yes, you must be able to access the web and follow some basic cutting and pasting techniques along with typing.
How much time is involved ?   This depends upon how much needs to be published and if you are writing a lot of articles or if you are successful in getting various chairmen to write their own articles.  FYI this newsletter has taken about 2 hours to edit and I wrote 90% of the articles.

Please contact our PR chair to ask about how you can help.  PRChair

Community Activities

October is just around the corner and that means our biggest Community Activity month is near.

 October 1st - 3rd is the Gladfest.

For over ten years our council has been hosting a booth at the Gladfest to provide Photo ID and Identification kits to parents of small children.  We snap photos of the children and using the kits provided by the National Center for Exploited and Missing Children.

We need people to help staff the booth on Friday evening, all day Saturday and perhaps Sunday afternoon.  Please contact Steve Roth to volunteer or for more details.  Steve Roth 436-0847

  October 2nd - Gladfest Parade.

We always kick off our Tootsie Roll drive by passing out candy during the Gladfest parade and collecting donations from the crowd.  This can add close to $1,000 to the cause if we get a good turn out of guys who will walk the parade route on Saturday morning.  Please watch the website for details about where and when we will be meeting prior to the start of the parade.  At this time we don't have that information. Council Web Page.

October 8 - 10th - Campaign for Developmentally Disabled ( Tootsie Roll Drive)

This is by far our largest single weekend fundraiser of the year.  We collect donations from the general public at various stores throughout the area.  These donations are then sent to the State of Missouri K of C.  Fifty percent of the money collect goes to fund the Knights of Columbus wing at Cardinal Glennon Hospital in St. Louis.  The other half comes back to us to give to local groups helping those with developmental disablities.  For more information about this program go to Missouri KofC

WE NEED YOUR HELP.  The more K of C Families that volunteer to help collect money at the stores the more money we will collect for this very worthy cause.  Bring your children to help you.  They not only learn a good lesson about giving of their time but the public seems to love to hand money to kids!

We have 2 hour shifts starting Friday morning and going into the evening on Friday and Saturday night.  Then on Sunday don't forget to help out at your parish at the masses.

Watch the website for more details about signing up.  Or if you are not particular about where you are assigned let us know the day and time you prefer to work via email. Council MR Chair

For the past several years, your Knights of Columbus insurance program has been certified by IMSA - the Insurance Marketplace Standards Association.  What does this mean to you?

Simply - it means that your trust in the Order is well-placed.  IMSA promotes high ethical standards in the marketing, sale and service of individually owned life insurance, long-term care insurance and annuity products.  The IMSA logo, which we use in our advertising and promotional materials, demonstrates our commitment to ethical market conduct.

To qualify for IMSA, we vow to:

·         conduct business according to high standards of honesty and fairness

·         provide competent and consumer-focused sales and service

·         engage in active and fair competition

·         provide advertising and sales materials that are clear as to purpose, and honest and fair as to content

·         provide for fair and prompt handling of customer complaints and disputes

·         maintain a system of supervision and review designed to achieve compliance with IMSA's Principles of Ethical Market Conduct.

Our IMSA membership is further evidence of our dedication to high marketplace standards.  When you choose to do business with the Knights of Columbus, you are selecting a company that holds itself to the highest of standards.

NEWS FLASH:   As of June 2010 only TWO companies have the IMSA certification and rated highest by S & P and AM BEST.  Your Knights of Columbus Insurance program is one of them.
