Greetings!
Working with a lawyer can be very stressful for
entrepreneurs. Lawyers and entrepreneurs
have different views of the business world and deals that complement one
another. Where the entrepreneur thinks big picture, the lawyer should
be thinking: "What if?" The lawyer
should help the entrepreneur drill down into the details of his deal, expose
the areas of potential risk and advise the entrepreneur the ways to deal with
that risk. The entrepreneur should also consult the lawyer early on in
any negotiation. This will provide the
entrepreneur with insight into legal issues that might not be considered during
the business discussions. It can also
avoid the problem of having to go back and renegotiate deal terms once the true
ramifications of those terms are fully understood. Of course, no business lawyer should be the final arbiter of
any deal. The entrepreneur can and should, for himself or herself, determine
what is and what is not an acceptable risk and whether a deal makes sense. Enjoy the video.
I hope you enjoyed your 4th of July holiday. Ed
