As you know,
we have several contested judicial races on our bal-
lot, plus the race for the 6th Congressional District,
among others. From the other side of the ballot, we'll
learn which Rs we'll face in November. And let's be
honest, aren't you curious to see which 'crazy' will win
their side's fight for Prez? Not to mention the face-off
between Beason and Bachus. The evening begins at
7 PM. Come early and have some dinner. We'll see     you there!   Here're the directions.

VALERIE JARRETT raised both money and enthusiasm
for Mr. Obama while here in Birmingham.

Jarrett at Birmingham OFA HQ last
Tueday afternoon.

One of President Obama's closest advisors and long time confidants spoke to a standing room only crowd of supporters at the Wine Loft on Saturday evening, and to a group of dedicated volunteers at OFA headquarters on

Monday afternoon. She was in Alabama for the Selma March Anniversary. Articulate and persuasive, she impressed everyone who heard her speak.

Now about that Picnic Table .....
picnic table
As part of our participation in the Nature Conservancy's Earth Day Picnic at Railroad Park (see the side bar to the left), we're finishing and painting a picnic table to be displayed in the park, along with more than 50 others from participating organizations and non-profits. The contributions for the tables will fund local and national projects of the Conservancy. Just imagine the creative variety of designs we'll see on all the tables! In addition, the tables will be displayed around town for a few weeks after Earth Day. When it's returned to us, we'll raffle it off at an event in the future! It'll look great on somebody's deck or patio, and weather durability is being planned for. It will be finished with good, Democratic care and attention to detail! If you're interested in helping with the project, contact Tony Parker. As a matter of fact, initial sanding and prep of the table is happening this morning at 10:30 at the Jeffco Democratic Headquarters at 2027 4th Avenue North. Contact Tony for details.

WE NEED YOU !!!
Former Speaker of the House Tip O'Neill was famous for reminding everyone, "All politics is local." Whether we get worked up about slurs against President Obama, or demeaning Republican social legislation in Alabama, we can really only do effective work LOCALLY. But we must DO SOMETHING. Volunteers are needed. Volunteer with the official Jeffco Democratic Party office. Richard Mauk  (205-279-2588) will be glad to hear from you. Volunteer with Leanne Townsend down at OFA Headquarters (205-202-4200). Spread the word for 2012!  And please come help US, your OTM Dem family.  Grass roots organizations require regular watering and nurturing. Any and all sorts of help are needed and welcome. Contact  Linda Verin if you're interested in helping, or for more details. Thanks!
