Homeless Prevention Story-Christy and Her Sons
Save the Date for FREE Conference
Volunteer Spotlight: Gabi Mehta
 NavarrawithSAMMTopofpageDear ,

What a refreshing week this has been!
It sounds strange that a cool front would bring 90 degree weather and we would be thrilled, but somehow 6-7 degrees makes
a big difference in how we feel.

It helps me remember that even the small things are important to the men, women and children who we serve. For instance, after living under stress, a word of encouragement can make all the difference in the world and give the much needed boost to move forward. Other times, it might be help with rent or a utility payment to keep a family in their home, but what a difference this can make!

I would like to thank you for your support of SAMMinistries, whether you pray, volunteer, or give financially or materially--you lift our spirits, too! Without you, we could not do this life-changing work!

As a young widow, Christy has raised her boys on her own since her youngest son was11 months old. With a bachelors degree in Management and two masters degrees (Healthcare Management and Finance), Christy said, "I am a proud, college-educated,  single mother of two wonderful children and never once thought I would ever be in this position."

Volunteer Spotlight: GM serving
Gabi Mehta

You might recognize this month's spotlight. We were blessed to have her play a large part of our team over the summer. While many students take their summer breaks for recreation and relaxation, Gabi Mehta dedicated her summer to learning and helping the homeless. Between her sophomore and junior years at Keystone School, she volunteered nearly 20 hours a week during the summer.

She worked in the Volunteer Coordinator's office and assisted with leading many of the large out-of-town mission groups while they served for SAMMinistries.Gabi lead these groups with a servant's heart while she worked alongside of them.

And, although she continues to volunteer on a smaller scale, we wish her all the best with her academics and hope to see more of her next summer!
As we get ready to close our Fiscal Year at SAMMinistries, I look back on what has been accomplished this year with your help and am awestruck and look forward to the ministry that lays ahead.

Just like Christy, our community has cried out for our Homeless Prevention Services and we have heard the cry! As we move forward, you will hear more about the wonderful program and how it positively impacts all of San Antonio--join us in the mission to overcome homelessness as we 'ramp up' our Homeless Prevention Services!
