Seniors taking home medals at last year's 5K Run/Walk
I love living in South Texas! Have you noticed that our temperatures fluctuate from 30 degrees to 70 degrees-sometimes in a single day!

No matter if you need a coat for 24 hours or 24 days, when it gets cold, if you don't have one, you need one.

SAMMinistries has been thrilled to receive hundreds of coats from various coat drives and we were blessed to give them to the men, women and children who needed one. So, if you gave a coat to one of these drives-THANK YOU!  However, I am hoping that our weather stays on the warm side of the temperature swing as we prepare for two outdoor events! The Toyota Texas Street2Feet 5K Run/Walk and Kidz K and the San Antonio Potters Guild (SAPG) Empty Bowls event presented by AT&T are just around the corner!

Whether you are an athlete or weekend walker, we would love for you to come out to the Run/Walk and show your support as you 'tour' downtown San Antonio!

Empty Bowls is an event that people ask about year round-just so they won't miss the date. Over the years, Empty Bowls has been held in November, May and two different weekends in March. So, I can understand the confusion and worry about missing the date.

Last year, the first Sunday in March was the best day ever for Empty Bowls. I am happy to announce that the SAPG has decided to make the first Sunday in March THE day for Empty Bowls, now and in the years to come!

Make sure you read about both events and other stories below!

"Cody's Christmas" Makes Holiday Special For Families

E Abbott
Elizabeth shopping for Christmas

We would like to spotlight Elizabeth Abbott and her many generous friends, clients and team members at Nancy's Boutique. Elizabeth sponsored Cody's Christmas-a Christmas gift drive named in honor of her son Cody-to bring happiness to children and families in our care with everyone joining together to make it a success!

However, Cody's Christmas was much more than a toy drive. Along with toy donations, Nancy's Boutique in the Quarry accepted cash donations to purchase Christmas gifts. Elizabeth was hands-on in the gift selection! These gifts were then used to  stock our Santa's Workshop. She and her staff shopped for 25 families; buying presents from clothes and lotion sets to televisions!

We are honored that Elizabeth chose SAMMinistries' children and families to support this Christmas. Elizabeth's leadership in giving made many Christmas wishes come true for our families. The blessings of wonderful donors like Elizabeth keep our ministry going strong! THANK YOU to Elizabeth and ALL our donors!

In Closing
SAMMinistries is so blessed! We are blessed with volunteers, donors and a staff that are caring, compassionate and want to go that extra mile to serve those in great need. It takes all of us, working together, to make a difference in their lives.

So,  on behalf of the men, women, and children who have come to us in their time of desperation and have been helped because you cared, I thank you!

May you be blessed for your kindness and generosity!
