It's time for kids and adults to go back to school!

Dear ,
This time of year is always a blessing and a challenge! The kids are excited to go back to school to see friends and teachers and many of our adult residents are thrilled to be going to school to better their futures, too! However, this excitement is tempered by the thought of not having what they need in class to succeed.
School supplies are something that many of us take for granted. We get a list, go shopping and our kids are set. Our biggest concern is what color backpack or binder to choose. However, for parents with limited or no income, this time of year can be heartbreaking. Read below to see how you can help give our young and mature students a great start!
Once they are back in school, some of our students may need help with homework, GED classes, etc. If you have knowledge of a school subject that you would like to share, please consider tutoring our adults, teens and children. More information about those opportunities is highlighted in an article below. Education is an important tool used to break the cycle of homelessness-please help any way you can!
The Volunteer Spotlight shines bright on Paul and Barbara Slattery and opportunities to serve, stretch and buy are all yours to read about below! Enjoy! |

We would like to give a huge THANK YOU to all the volunteers who took to the streets and to their Facebook pages to get the info out. SAMMinistries was blessed by your efforts.
Because of the great work done by our volunteers, an increase of homeless awareness was seen as people came to our Facebook Fan Page and Website to learn about SAMMinistries. We have added a new Welcome Page for first time visitors and a donation tab to make a gift on our Facebook Page, too! If you haven't seen our page Click here and "Like" us today!

As I said before, education is important for the future of the men, women and children we serve, but it is important to this community, as well. In time, San Antonio's future is going to be handed over to this generation and I pray they will be educated, hard-working and compassionate leaders. Sometimes, when I look into the faces of the children we serve, I wonder, if they could be a future mayor or president?
Many great leaders have come from difficult and humble circumstances, so why not one of them! Think about it. If you find a way to help improve the future of someone through education, not only will you be doing someone a great service, but you will also be bettering your future as well! It's a win-win opportunity!
Looking forward to the future!
