Forget 'Resolutions'...make a Commitment Instead
Let us help you achieve your goals.

New year's resolutions are cliche'd, fickle, and fleeting.  True change requires motivation, dedication and consistency...and so it is with our health and fitness.

Everyone is busy.  But don't let the 'busy-ness" of your life get in the way of achieving your goal of improving your health and fitness in 2012.  We can help.

The Parks and Recreation Department offers a wide variety of group fitness classes to choose from...both morning and evening to accommodate your busy schedule.  From aquatic classes to high energy zumba to boot camp style classes...we have something for everyone.  Click here for details about each class.

Beyond our group classes, take advantage of the variety of fitness opportunities available at the Civic Center.  Swim, lift weights, play racquetball, use a treadmill or elliptical trainer...the list is endless.  If you need help getting started, meet with one of our personal trainers to set up a plan that's right for you.

Take time for yourself.  It's the best investment you can make.
10 Rules for Weighing In

The dreadful walk to the scale...your body moves like it is in mud to that EVIL...PSYCHOTIC...AND STUPID scale...it NEVER says what you want it to...so why bother?
  1. Weigh yourself on the same scale.
  2. Weigh yourself once a week.  For example, Monday morning when you wake up.
  3. Record your weight over the weeks of the month.  For example, 1st Monday: 223, 2nd Monday: 226, 3rd Monday: 221, 4th Monday: 225 = 223.75 lbs. for the month.
  4. If you eat at different times, the scale will be off.
  5. If you workout at different times, the scale will be off.
  6. If you go to bed at different times, the scale will be off.
  7. If you are exceptionally stressed, the scale will be off.
  8. An old-fashioned scale that allows you to calibrate it to "0" each time is best.
  9. It is not the only way to measure your success.  You control the scale.  It does not control you.
  10. ALWAYS face the numbers.  If it has been too long since you have stepped on the scale, you are doing a jiggy jig around your fitness goals.
