10U BASEBALL & SOFTBALL
September 28th through October 26th
It's not too early to think about next summer's ball teams. Registration begins September 28th for the 2010 summer season for those players eligible for our 10U baseball and softball programs. Both groups begin to "travel" at this age. The 10U softball teams play 10-12 games in the Butler/Saunders league while the 10U baseball teams play the majority of games in Wahoo with a few 'away' games in nearby communities. Our 10U programs are an excellent 'stepping stone' to the next level of competition as your ball player gets older.

Civic Center Membership Rates
The WP&R Board of Directors gave their approval to several fee schedule changes for the upcoming fiscal year, including an increase in Civic Center membership rates. The new rates will take effect beginning October 1st. In spite of the increase, Civic Center membership rates remain well below other area fitness facilities and clubs. In addition, when considering the ancilliary benefits such as reduced rates on recreation programs and aquatic center season passes, a Civic Center membership continues to be a tremendous value. Please visit the WP&R website for new rate information and details.
Keep in mind, anyone who renews their membership (or purchases a new membership) prior to October 1st may renew at the current rates. Current Civic Center members are also reminded that in order to renew your membership, you must stop in to the Civic Center to do so. Memberships do not renew 'automatically' on your anniversary date.
Also...automated email reminders are sent to the 'primary' member in each membership seven days in advance of your membership expiration date. Please watch for this reminder if you think your membership is close to expiring. If you have a spam filter, you may want to make sure any email messages from WP&R are in your 'allowed' list.
For questions, contact the Civic Center at 443-4174. |
More Viewing Options Now Available
Three new 32" flat panel TV's were recently installed in the fitness room to allow for more viewing variety and choices when working out. In addition, each TV is equipped with an FM transmitter which allows patrons to listen to their TV of choice by bringing headphones (w/FM radio) and tuning into the frequency posted on each TV. Another goal with this set up is to reduce the noise conflict that often occurred with activities on the other side of the fitness room. The Civic Center will also have headphones and FM radios available for check-out at the front desk in the near future. |
Aquatic Center Season Winding Down
With the start of school, the Wahoo Aquatic Center concluded its weekday hours of operation. The WAC will be open only on the weekends through Labor Day weekend...Saturdays, 1pm-6pm and Sundays, 1pm-5pm & 6pm-8pm. Labor Day will be the 'Last Blast' for the summer. Visit the WP&R website for the complete end-of-season calendar schedule.
Thanks for making it another great summer swim season! |

Middle School Dance
The Parks and Recreation Department will be sponsoring a 'Back to School" dance for all area middle school (6th-8th grade) students on Friday, September 25th. The dance will be held at the Civic Center gym from 7pm to 9pm. Cost is $4 per student. The dance will conclude promptly at 9pm. Our policy is that students may leave early if they are picked up by a parent at the door. Once they leave and are picked up, they will not be re-admitted.
