THE MANIFESTATION PROCESS Manifestation is the simple process of achieving our desires.  Change is the common denominator that unites us all in these highly accelerated times, no matter what our circumstance. As we transition from the old to the new, we need to recognize that everything is in divine right order as the greater plan unfolds. This is a time to move beyond our personal limitations and resolve longstanding issues that keep us separate. We are called to balance our intellect with the physical and the emotional, as we breathe through all perceived obstacles to embrace possibility.
 The Lunar Eclipse, occurring on August 5th, at 13 Aquarius 43, calls for us to elevate our consciousness with regard to the role we play in contribution to humanity. What can we offer as a by product of our own personal journey to make a difference in this changing world? The New Moon in Leo on August 20th, at 27 Leo 32, draws emphasis on a personal level, through creative self expression and heart-centered connections in relationships and personal endeavors.
On September 6th, Mercury will complete the third of its retrograde movements through the signs Libra and Virgo, giving us an opportunity to reflect on our personal relationships and our priorities on an inner level. This is not a time for initiating the new, but rather for finishing up old projects and issues. During this period, we can evaluate issues of compromise and balance and devise new approaches for work, efficiency, health and service. Mercury goes direct on September 29th.

Fresh Peppermint shouts "SUMMER"
by Rachel Lord, RN, Master Herbalist Peppermint (Mentha x piperita L) is a perennial that can "grow like a weed" if you let it. It can take over gardens and be very aggressive. Bu  t before you yank it up, save a large patch for wonderful summer iced tea, to throw in salads and to dry for future medicinal use come winter. Peppermint is a member of the Labiatae (mint) family and is related to other fast-growing plants with square stems and opposite leaves. Common kitchen spices belonging to this family are rosemary, marjoram, savory, garden sage (not sagebrush!) and basil. The distinctive similarity in all of these is that they are filled with aromatic and volatile oils that make them spicy, warming, stimulating and yummy in food. Menthol is present in the mints (peppermint, spearmint, mint). It is interesting in that it has both a warming and cooling quality. Drinking mint tea causes the body to open up and sweat-and then it cools you down, thus helping to break a fever. If applied topically it has a warming-cooling-tingling aspect that draws blood to and from the tissue as in Tiger Balm and other over the counter remedies for sore muscles. Main Actions and Uses for Peppermint: Colds and Flu, Chills and Chronic Bronchitis: Drink a strong mint tea to cause sweating or do a steam to allow the menthol to open up the airway, the nose, the sinuses. It has anti-bacterial action to boot. Tummy Aches, Indigestion, Gas and Intestinal Parasites: Great for occasional gastric distress or if you "ate too much". Take as a tea. Kills intestinal "bugs". Tension Headaches: Spread a couple of drops of the essential oil over the forehead and back of neck. Weaning: Dries up breast milk. Topically: Anti-inflammatory and a local anesthetic for achy, sore muscles. Cautions: This is a medium strength herb and as such, there are cautions. Peppermint is drying. Could dry up breast milk . Keep peppermint essential oils off faces of babies and children. Could burn. Careful with heartburn; could irritate the esophagus. Could cause anal burning in folks with diarrhea. Do not use with GI ulcers for same reason. Otherwise, go for it. Peppermint Tea: 1 teaspoon of dried leaves or 1 tablespoon of torn fresh leaves to a cup of just-boiled water. Steep for 20 minutes to get a good medicinal dose. Strain and enjoy. Add honey if you feel like it. Peppermint Steam: 2-3 drops of the essential oil or a handful of torn up fresh leaves or a tablespoon of dry leaves to a pot of just-boiled water. Place pot on hotplate. Make a tent with a towel over your head and the pot. Sniff away. Come up for air as needed! Your sinuses will thank you.
