Library users share how our Libraries help them:
"I love the library! Every time I come in, everyone's so friendly, and every book leads me into a new, wonderful world. Thanks!" -- Montreall Bumpers
"There was a period when I didn't read much, but now I can never be without a book. Main Street is in walking distance from my house, so it is very convenient. I can't imagine not having a library close by." -- Paige Lilley
Thanks to those who have shared their stories. Email your story or fill out a card in the library. Name and contact information are optional. |

Read posters created by the Library System will be on display throughout August at Grissom Library and various locations afterward. They feature local "celebrities," such as Woodside High School football players.

Children get creative during Summer Reading Program |
Crafts, cartoons, animals, and outdoor games are just a few of the events that kept kids busy during the Summer Reading Program, June 22-July 31. Smithfield artist Ed Condra provided brief lessons on drawing cartoons. Families had close encounters with a tortoise, milk snake, bull frog, and millipede during the "Amazon Journeys" program, presented by the Virginia Living Museum. Forty-five children gathered at Main Street Library to play parachute games and blow bubbles. And children used markers, glue, and pictures of flowers to decorate a clay flower pot during the "Monet's Garden" program. Pictured: Kelly Belfiore, age 8, left, and Ciara Campbell, age 9, display their completed flower pots at Grissom Library. |
