NTDO NEWS
October 14, 2009
In the past few days, the possibility for national health care reform took a big step forward in the Senate; realistic discussion of America's future involvement in Afghanistan and Iraq gained new energy; the President reasserted his commitment to abolishing the military's "don't ask, don't tell" policy; our nation's economic health continued to show some signs of recovery; and... America's President was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. That's a fairly full week.

Admittedly, none of the things mentioned above could be labeled "accomplishments." Not yet. Even the Nobel award is more of a recognition of positive movement in the direction of peace. A big change from the recent past. In fact, everything listed in the above paragraph reflects how different things are today compared to less than one year ago. Think about it. During the vile Bush-Cheney years (and "vile" is an accurate description), can you remember any series of days when the energy of our nation's leadership was directed in so many positive directions?

These are difficult times. But compared to where we've been and where we would be if the 2008 election year had turned out differently, things are definitely looking up.
The NTDO Annual Banquet is almost here. If you haven't made your reservations -- do it now!
Sunday, October 25 is the date for this year's New Trier Dems Banquet. The event will be honoring Committeeman Bill Crowley for his 25 years of service to our organization, our party and our township.
The banquet promises to be especially entertaining and unique because all of the dignitaries and candidates who come to the podium will be  speaking about Bill -- instead of themselves. To add to the fun, this year's silent auction will feature several very special one-of-a-kind items. County Commissioner Larry Suffredin will be the event's M.C. and will keep things lively.
You can reserve your banquet seats by calling the NTDO office at 847-446-8030 or by email.

Reservation options are:

Individuals -- $150 per person
Sponsors -- $250 per person/$425 for two
Patrons -- $350 per person/$550 for two

This the New Trier Dems' major annual fund-raiser. Be a part of it.
