NTDO Endorsement Meeting
Upcoming Candidate Events
NTDO NEWS
October 7, 2009
This month the entire Senate begins moving toward agreement on a health care reform bill for America. Progressive Senators Sherrod Brown, Jay Rockefeller, and Russ Feingold are organizing their colleagues to fight for the public health insurance option. If you are among the 65% of Americans who believe a public option should be a part of any meaningful reform to our present insurance company dominated system, now's the time to speak out. You can make your views known to our state's senior senator, Dick Durbin. As one of the Senate's leaders, his support will make a difference. Senator Durbin can be reached at: 202-224-2152.
The big NTDO Endorsement Meeting will be on Dec. 6 -- Every "member in good standing" can vote. Are you one?
The general membership meeting to endorse 2010 Democratic Primary candidates will be held on Sunday, Dec. 6 at 2pm. at the Winnetka Community House. -- This is a revised date. The original date for the meeting was Dec. 13.

There will be brief presentations from key Democratic Primary candidates, discussion from the floor and then members will vote by secret ballot on which of these candidates the NTDO should endorse. Endorsement requires a 60% vote of all NTDO "members in good standing" attending the meeting. Candidates who are endorsed will receive the public support of the NTDO including our grassroots efforts.

To be a voting "member in good standing" requires paid-up annual dues status more than 30 days before the Endorsement Meeting ($35 individual, $50 family) or active volunteer involvement with the organization over the past 12 months. You should be receiving a membership letter in the next few days with an enclosed form for renewing membership. Or, you can visit the ntdo.org website Home page and click on the Contribute link in the right-hand column.
The meeting will begin promptly at 2:00pm so plan to arrive early to sign-in and pick up your voting materials.
