A Precious Gift
October is here and that means it's time to start preparing for what we expect to be our biggest year yet for a Precious Gift - a program that provides holiday gifts to disadvantaged and displaced children. Our exciting news is that A Precious Child has been selected to host the Giving Tree at Flatiron Crossing mall this year! This is an amazing opportunity for us to have an even bigger impact and put even more smiles on the faces of disadvantaged children. Last year, the Precious Gift program provided new toys and gifts to over 3,600 deserving children who would otherwise not have had a present on Christmas morning. With your help, we hope to make this holiday season special for even more children. How can you help? There are so many different ways:
- Donate money: Funds we collect will be used to purchase toys that are requested but not donated, as well as to meet the expenses we incur to run the program.
- Sponsor a Child: Select a child's name from the Flatiron Crossing Mall's Giving Tree. Purchase the requested gift and drop it off at A Precious Child.
- Get your co-workers and friends involved: Sponsor a family or a group of children. Contact A Precious Child 303-466-4272 to obtain a list of children who need gifts. Have your co-workers or friends purchase the requested gifts and drop them off at our office.
- Donate new unwrapped toys: We collect gifts for boys and girls of all ages. Gifts can be dropped off at our location at 557 Burbank St, Suite E, Broomfield. Our office hours are Mon-Fri 9-5.
- Volunteer at our office: We need volunteers to help sort the toys we collect and distribute them to the families in need.
- Volunteer at Flatiron Crossing Giving Tree: We need volunteers for every day between Thanksgiving and Christmas. To sign up for a shift, please visit A Precious Gift Sign-UP
Thank you in advance for making this holiday season memorable for the many struggling children and families in need of a helping hand! |
Winter Clothes

Fall is among us and we are starting to see the leaves change into beautiful colors of red and yellow, preparing us for the upcoming winter. As the weather turns cold, children begin to anticipate the first snow fall. Many of these children will be in need of heavy coats, long sleeve shirts, sweaters, and long pants. We want to make sure every child is dressed for Colorado's spontaneous winters! A Precious Child is in need of your generous contributions of warm clothes and coats so all children stay warm and healthy during the winter months. Please go through your closets and donate any warm clothing that you no longer use and know that your donations will go to children and families in dire need!

Thrill the World
Have you ever wanted to learn the dance to Michael Jackson's song Thriller? Thrill the World is an annual worldwide simultaneous dance to Michael Jackson's "Thriller." Each event raises money for local charities. We are grateful to have Carol Casper, organizer of this year's 2011 Thrill the World at Paul Derda Recreation Center choose A Precious Child as their choice non-profit organization. The event will be held on Friday October 29, from 5-8:05pm--ALL proceeds go to A Precious Child. This is a great way to help raise money for A Precious Child while doing something fun! The cost is $12 for Adults and $7 for children 14 and under.
Doors will open at 4:30pm and everyone will learn the dance until 7:55. At 8pm we will start the simultaneous dance around the world! We hope to see you there!
Click here to see the "Thrill the World" Flyer for more information. |
Brocade Volunteers
Thank you for volunteering at A Precious Child. We enjoyed your help! Volunteers from Brocade Communications helped us inventory, sort, and display donated clothing at A Precious Child's Central Clothing Bank. Also, thanks to them we have more space available to our volunteers, interns, and staff as they helped put together a new desk.
Brocade Communications allows their employees to volunteer 40 hours in the community every year. They heard about A Precious Child through an employee's son and wife who regularly volunteer at A Precious Child. They provided us with lots of laughs and hardwork! Thank you! We really appreciate your time and generosity. |
Trinity Taekwon Do
Trinity Taekwon Do has graciously adopted A Precious Child as their community service outreach program; their instructors and students donate their time, talents, and treasures to our organization! Kristine Ferraro suggested A Precious Child to the head instructors of Trinity Taekwon Do as a class volunteer project. They helped in our Central Clothing Bank by sorting, inventorying, and displaying items. Trinity also donated many boxes of diapers to A Precious Child. A big thanks to them, we were able to provide more diapers to families in need! We appreciate Trinity Taekwon Do and all the help they give to A Precious Child!
