                            AGING PROPOSAL:
                GROWING YOUNG TOGETHER
The "newest" trend, as discussed on the Today show is that of couples choosing to engage in cosmetic surgery or procedures together. This is in part due to men's acceptance of of cosmetic surgery as well as their desire to look good as their wives, or significant others, continue to work toward "their best."  As discussed in prior newsletters, men are doing more surgery and  more procedures in the recent two years, possibly to feel competitive in the workforce. As women know, we feel energized when we feel good about the way we look and maybe men are realizing they can have that feeling too.  In any event, it creates positive energy in a relationship when both people are trying to be the best they can be. 11/7/2011
FACE FIRST; FACE FACTS
Various habits which we engage in daily affect our skin. Some we make the concerted choice to continue, others we can easily change.  They include:
(1)  Smoking which destroys the skin's elastin and collagen, leading to wrinkles, most obviously around the mouth, and fine lines. Also, the lack of oxygen leaves skin looking dull and sallow;
(2)  Wine, candy and coffee act like a diuretic and prevent you from holding onto water, making your skin look dry and washed out.
(3)  Lack of sleep causes stress which releases cortisol. This makes your skin oily, causing acne.
(4)  Unnecessary rough treatment of acne-prone skin causes dryness when the reason for the acne is more probably hormone- related rather than dirt and uncleanliness.
(5)  Lack or insufficient sunscreen is one of the worst things you can do. Don't forget to use it whether on the beach, on the slopes or just running around town.

            BUTTOCKS ENHANCEMENT:
                   FIX-A-FLAT CEMENT
A Miami women has been arrested for practicing medicine without a license. She is charged with enhancing butts with fix-a-flat cement, tire sealant, mineral oil and super glue. In her interview, she states, "they didn't catch me doing anything so it's just allegations" and "if anybody is a victim, it's me."  Another person came forward claiming this woman injected her face with near fatal  injections. The kicker?  All for just $700.00..... OVERDOSING ON TYLENOL
As you know, Tylenol is usually the pain reliever of choice for many doctors and surgeons. Yet, over the recent years, we have heard about potential consequences of too much acetominophen (Tylenol). A study from the University of Edinburgh in Scotland not only confims this but adds an exclamation point. They found that even an extra dose per day over the course of days ("staggered doses")  can lead to overdose. These patients ended with liver or brain damage, simply by not adhering to the recommended dose.  Older patients or patients who drank a lot of alcohol were at greatest risk. It is not one extra dose, but the buildup that creates the problem and, by then, there is no reversal.  The National Institutes of Health state that acetominophen overdosing is one of the most common causes of poisoning around the world.  Recently, the makers of Extra-Strength Tylenol stated it will be reducing the daily maximum to 3,000mg a day compared to the now present 4,000mg.  The FDA is requesting that acetominophen-makers reduce the amount per pill to 325 mg to avoid the problem of staggered doses.   The Huffington Post, 11/27/2011
As with all drugs and medicine, read the ingredients and doseage to be certain!!!! Other known medications with acetominophen are: Alka-Seltzer Sinus and Cold, Bayer Select, Benadryl Sinus and Headache, Dayquil, Excedrin, Anacin Aspirin-Free and many, many more.
       SENSATIONAL MINT-y BROWNIES
Being that it's the holidays, my daughter requested that I forget the "healthy" and put her two favorites together: Mint and Brownies. I remember this recipe from when I was a kid, so here goes.... It is very minty.  To cut back, use Andes Creme de Menthe chocolates instead.

1 and 1/2 cup (3 sticks) butter, melted
3 cups sugar
1 TBL vanilla extract
5 eggs
2 cups all purpose flour
1 cup cocoa powder
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
24 small (1 and 1/2") York peppermint patties

-Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease 13x9x2 inch baking pan.  In a large bowl with spoon or wire whisk, stir together butter, sugar and vanilla. Add eggs; stir until well blended. Stir in flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt and blend well.
-Reserve 2 cups of batter, while spreading the remaining batter on the pan. Arrange peppermint patties in a single layer over batter, about 1/2 inch apart. Spread the reserved, remaining 2 cups of batter over patties.
-Bake 50-55 minutes or until the brownies begin to pull away from the sides of pan. Cool completely in pan on wire rack. Cut into 36 brownies.
